Dawn Newton Charity Meetup May 2019

How Mervelee Myers is been taken for a Fool by those Associated with LEYF

Do you actually believe your own hype? My response to Dawn Newton’s email invitation. My reason for this response is the fact that Ms. Newton worked at www.leyf.org.uk and left under dubious circumstances like others from 2013 when Karen Walker resigned on the spot after carrying out training for the organization.  I joined Charity Meetup in 2016 when I was at the lowest ebb of my life. I thought I would be able to get back into doing what I love best. But it didn’t happen and I began to doubt myself when I was repeatedly rejected. Matters came to a head in December 2018 when I realised I was actually barred from commenting on Charity Meetup Facebook Page. I come to the conclusion that no one else will be using me to build their brands.

When I attended the first Charity Meetup in Holborn in 2016. Please notice I am the only black person in this photo. Later on, you will understand why I am feeling peeved.

Here’s another photo that I am the only black person in. This was taken in 2011. All who are in this photo have gone on to excel. I mentored 2 of the persons at Luton Street. The manager, Julie Weise when she was doing her Foundation Degree. Tania Silva when she was doing her Leadership and Management Training. I graduated from www.open.ac.uk/ceremonies on 2 May 2009. Penny Tassoni was made an MBE like June O’Sullivan. Wait for the next installment in the story, please.

22 January 2014 I said my final goodbyes to my mother before her 90th birthday. What is making it hard for me to trust https://www.facebook.com and other social media platforms is the fact that my life is/was an “Open Book”. What the establishments, systems and individuals have done to me ruined my career and destroying the 26+ years I spent in the UK. I attended my grandson’s graduation in July 2014 after Mama’s funeral.

My brother BYRON was referred to as the Policeman. But in fact, he was not.

How to Leverage the Power of Facebook’s Giving Tools (Talk and Activity)

Nick Burne – Founder & CEO GivePanel and Managing Partner at Nick Burne Consulting

Facebook’s Charitable Giving Tools have raised more than $1 billion dollars for over a million charities in just a few short years. In this punchy, practical session I will take fundraisers through why Facebook donate has worked so well, case studies of how small and large charities are maximizing their short and long term income and 5 key actions charities can take to leverage the power of Facebook’s Social Graph.

Bio – Nick is Managing Partner at Nick Burne Consulting where he is Lead Digital Strategist for the International Rescue Committee and UNICEF’s international digital fundraising. In 2017 he founded RAISETHRU – a 12-week Facebook Ads Accelerator Programme for charities that has helped clients like Greenpeace, Care and PCUK build scalable digital acquisition programmes. He is also the Founder/CEO of GivePanel – a new online platform that helps charities build ongoing relationships with their Facebook Fundraisers. www.linkedin.com/in/nickburne

Are you underestimating your supporters? (Talk and Activity)

Lizzi Hollis – Head of Corporate Engagement and Partnerships, Richard House Children’s Hospice

Why not take a fresh look at your supporters, how well do you know them?
What could be possible if you involved them, invited them to become activists instead of passive donors. In this session Lizzi will suggest ways to do just that, using her experience in Corporate Partnerships but providing insight that will be worthwhile to any fundraiser.

Bio – Lizzi started professional life with aspirations to be an archaeologist, but after joining the universities Annual Fund, discovered a talent for fundraising, which granted her the nickname “Telephone Terrier”. She has gone on to hold jobs at Marie Curie, St Mungo’s and most recently Richard House Children’s Hospice. www.linkedin.com/in/lizzi-hollis-a0935224
