This is why the Mayor tasked the Deputy Mayor for Communities and the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime to work on an urgent new Action Plan to be developed with community groups and the police to deliver a step change in trust and confidence, transparency and accountability. We agree with you that racism has no place in our society and that communities need to trust the police; both the Commissioner and the Mayor understand that it is an essential part of policing. As a result, you may be aware of the recent publication of the Mayor’s Action plan for improving trust and confidence, transparency and accountability in policing, which addresses the issues you have raised that are particularly affecting Black Londoners. MM Updates: So since the MOPAC identified my concerns why did they think it’s appropriate to be directing me to the PUBLICATION? I would think the MAPOC would adopt the approach of Counter-terrorism as a crime prevention: a holistic approach. A broad and holistic approach to preventing terrorism can be based on nine preventative mechanisms. Now can MOPAC go find out how many of those were used to make me a VICTIM by LEYF and cohorts including the Police the past 6+ years? The Action Plan has been developed following a series of consultations with more than 400 individuals and groups that either work with or within Black communities. The work was undertaken in response to concerns raised about the disproportionate use of police powers, including stop and search, the use of force and Taser. The Mayor’s office want all communities across London to feel they are able to trust their police service and have confidence that the police use their powers to keep them safe.
