We stand with the Black community — and all those working towards justice in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and far too many others whose names will not be forgotten. So why did www.leyf.org.uk get Facebook.com to give access to my account on 18/9/2015?
To help in this fight, I know Facebook needs to do more to support equality and safety for the Black community through our platforms. As hard as it was to watch, I’m grateful that Darnella Frazier posted on Facebook her video of George Floyd’s murder because we all needed to see that. We need to know George Floyd’s name. But it’s clear Facebook also has more work to do to keep people safe and ensure our systems don’t amplify bias. So why did I have to go to South London Press in 2004 to get support to publish my story? Since then I have been on Sky News, in Nurseryworld Exhibition, London Design Centre and see Google for more. But yet Facebook continue the CYBERBULLYING.
The organizations fighting for justice also need funding, so Facebook is committing an additional $10 million to groups working on racial justice. We’re working with our civil rights advisors and our employees to identify organizations locally and nationally that could most effectively use this right now. I know that $10 million can’t fix this. It needs sustained, long term effort. One of the areas Priscilla and I have personally worked on and where racism and racial disparities are most profound is in the criminal justice system. Unless we step in, we’re all about to be #locked out.
Theresa May is reportedly pulling together new plans for our immigration system after Brexit. At a special meeting next week, her ministers will be asked to rubber stamp the proposals. That means we don’t have long to make sure the public have a say on what the plans should include.
Right now, Theresa May is weighing up what the plans will look like. With political infighting and gossip reaching fever pitch, it looks like immigration could once again be used as a political football. But this is too important. We need to show Theresa May that the public expect a new immigration system to work for all of us, not used to play politics.
That’s where we come in. Thousands of us are reading this email. If we send a clear message to Theresa May – that the public wants an immigration policy which is fair, managed and humane – she’ll get the message. She’ll know voters expect her to listen to us, not play political games with our future.

The Bar Standards Board has challenged just two tribunal judgments in the past five years, a fraction of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s annual count of appealing decisions, the Gazette can reveal. In one instance, it failed to overturn a decision that a barrister who received a #suspended prison sentence of nine months should only be reprimanded.
The figures will add to the debate about the contrasting treatment of #barristers and #solicitors when they breach conduct rules.
According to annual reports, the BSB has appealed two decisions by the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service (BTAS) for undue #leniency since 2015. In one case, the regulator challenged a sanction relating to a barrister over six counts of breaching a restraining order, which resulted in the suspended prison sentence.
The respondent received a reprimand in 2017 after the tribunal took into account his ‘admission of the #professional misconduct charges, his positive personal #references and… his agreement to voluntarily suspend himself from practice’. The BSB’s appeal was unsuccessful.
An attempt by the #regulator to cross-appeal on the basis of an unduly lenient sentence in 2016 was also unsuccessful.
In the past month, two barristers have received brief suspensions after being #convicted of #assault. Stephen Joseph Sweeney, admitted in 2001, received a four-month suspension after being convicted of assaulting a woman by beating her and failing to surrender to custody when required to do so. Rashid Ahmed, admitted in 2003, was suspended for three months after being convicted of common assault by beating.
When asked whether it plans to appeal the Sweeney decision, the BSB said: ‘Sentences imposed by the Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service are a matter for the tribunal having regard to the facts of the individual case and the
BTAS sanctions guidance which is endorsed by the Council of the Inns of Court. It is not our usual practice to comment as to whether we intend to appeal.’
In 2017/18, the Solicitors Regulation Authority appealed nine decisions of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. Seven of these were successful.

So many things to be thankful for. On Tuesday I was inches away from a Serious Motor Bike Crash in Battersea Park Road. I took pictures relating to the Emergency Services because it is relevant to my Studies. Got to class this morning & learnt the Young Man Died from his injuries. I was present when they were cutting the clothes off him & saw his mangled arm. I heard his Groans & saw him in his underwear & when they put him on the Stretcher. My heart goes out to his Family & I hear it was reported in the Evening Standard. I told U I have the tools to be who/what I want to be as I develop my CPPDP. So I have the Death Machine, Emergency Vehicles & a Long Distance shot of the Accident Scene. But sadly I still have no time to download my Camera from October 2015. The psychopaths are responsible for this state of affairs from they decided to terrorise me starting January 2014. Only I did not know at the time…? Remember I’d reach a stage in my life where I was becoming Paranoid. COUNSELLING helped me deal with the Childhood Transitions that affected my life from the Age of 10 years old. What they done turned into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I am back to the days when I was Carefree & jump on the bicycle from Gaga Street Hill Top all the way to Street Gate.
