Today is World Cancer Day. An international day that takes place each year to raise awareness about cancer and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. At Cancer Research UK, weโre marking today across our social media channels, and shining a spotlight on our work as the worldโs leading cancer charity, dedicated to saving and improving lives through our research, influence and information.
This week, we have two new opportunities to get involved. Weโre asking about your experience of volunteering and being part of the Involvement Network at Cancer Research UK to help us improve the way we work with our volunteers in the future. The next survey asks what information youโd need to help you make an informed decision when considering a clinical trial.
Cancer Research UK has launched a ยฃ10m Cancer Data Driven Detection initiative, transforming how we assess cancer risk to advance early detection and precision prevention. Weโd like to thank the network members who are involved in this important piece of work to help to revolutionise research and deliver real-world impact.
I hope you have a lovely week and thanks for your continued support and involvement in our work.

Media Volunteer newsletter – February 2025Dear Media Volunteer,As many of you will know, today is World Cancer Day. This annual event gives us the opportunity to remember those lost to cancer but also the progress we have made in cancer research over the years. It also acts, of course, as a reminder of why we must keep raising awareness and funds for research.
Weโve been marking the day with activity including Tommy (pictured above with his grandson) featuring in emails from Ticketmaster, one of our Corporate Partners.
Tommy, who appears in our โWe Areโ Brand campaign, took part in our TUXEDO clinical trial after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer.
It has also been a busy start to the year in other respects, with more information below about the relaunch of Race for Life, new films for our Legacy campaign and new posters in our shops supporting our work on cancers affecting children and young people – all supported by media volunteers like you.
Finally, we’d ask that you consider completing our latest volunteer survey to help shape how we work with our volunteers across the charity. More details below!Thank you for being a media volunteer.
Best wishes, Keyan Milanian Media Volunteer Liaison team

The survey closes on Monday 24 February.Complete the surveyRace for Life launchOur Race for Life 2025 season is now underway and media volunteer Jenny Hicks was on hand to help with the launch last month.
Breast cancer patient Jenny, from St Albans, recorded a new radio and YouTube advert which has gone out on stations throughout the UK to help highlight this yearโs forthcoming events.
Jenny, from St Albans, spoke of how much her two best friends, Alison and Jane (pictured from left to right, Alison, Jenny and Jane), mean to her and why theyโve inspired her to take part in Race for Life. The trio have known each other for 60 years and all three have been treated for breast cancer. Though Jennyโs cancer is now incurable the bond between the friends is stronger than ever.Read more Race for Life hereLegacy campaignMedia Volunteers Jesse (right) and Laurel (left) are appearing on TV as part of a new Legacy campaign in the coming weeks.

I hope you and your loved ones are enjoying a great start to 2025.
Here at Parkinson’s UK we kicked off the year with the launch of our refreshed brand. Want to take a peak?See our refreshed brand Our last rebrand was 15 years ago. A lot has changed since then, including the priorities of the Parkinson’s community. So we needed to shift our focus to better meet their needs.Refreshing our brand better reflects who we are as a charity and means we can be there for you when you need us.Over 1,000 members of the Parkinson’s community were involved in our brand refresh. Weโre so grateful to everyone who took part in the process, from people with Parkinsonโs, family, friends and carers, to scientists and health and social care professionals.ย You spoke, we listened, and together weโve shaped something really powerful.ย A TulipSo, why a tulip? Our new logo incorporates a tulip symbol, which represents a pretty special tulip variety. Itโs called the Dr James Parkinson tulip, created in 1980 and named after the scientist who first documented the condition in 1817.For every Parkinson’s journeyOur new strapline is ‘For every Parkinson’s journey’. Whether you have Parkinsonโs, or know or care for someone who does, we’re here for you when you need us.Explore our refreshed brandThank you for being a part of the Parkinsonโs community.ย We hope you love our new look and focus as much as we do.ย

Jane, Alison and I have been friends for over 60 years. We do everything together, including supporting one another through cancer treatment. My treatment is ongoing, but thanks to the work of Cancer Research UK, I’m able to lead a full, active life, and Jane and Alison are still right beside me.

I AM WAITING FOR A COURT ORDER / APPLICATION / MY CASE TO BE LISTED
We are working hard to deal with incoming orders, applications, listing hearings and urgent matters. Notification will be sent out in due course. Your patience is appreciated at this time.
TRIAL BUNDLES

Please ensure the subject line of your email includes the correct case number and any applicable hearing date.
If you have already sent documents to the court by post, please do not resend the documents by email.

It is for you to find out the options available to you and, where necessary, seek independent legal advice. It is for you to decide what options to take and to ensure you understand the implications of that option.

All enquiries to civil courts and family courts can be received by email.
ยท You can send all letters and documents (exemptions are listed below) relevant to the case including adoption cases. However, due to the sensitive nature of adoption work, the court will only send emails to secure email accounts.
ยท An email account is considered secure when security measures are in place to make sure the data in the email canโt be accessed by users without the relevant approval. Any account that ends in the following is considered secured: gsi, pnn, gsx, gcsx, gse, cjsm, and nhs.net.

SENDING BUNDLES
ยท Please note that court bundles are not part of this process and we will not print them. 3. EMAIL SPECIFICATIONS AND EXEMPTIONS FOR HMTCS
ยท All Civil and Family process, applications and documents will be accepted by email as long as when the entire email is printed out it is not more than 50 pages. ยท Requests for the issue of Specified or Unspecified civil claims are excluded from this process. However, any subsequent process that leads from this following the issues of the claim will be accepted.
ยท Do not use more than one email to take any step in a case which requires a document or documents to be filed.
4. SENDING EMAILS WITH ASSOCIATED FEES
ยท In both Civil and Family cases court processes that carry a fee can also be received by email and processed by court staff. However the same conditions as above must apply and in addition:
ยท the party issuing the process must either quote a Fee Account number (see below), or
ยท the party who wants to pay has a valid credit or debit card. If you wish to pay using this method please say this on the email and include a contact number for the Court to contact you to take payment.
ยท Please note Local Authorities are exempt from this provision.
ยท What is a Fee Account?
ยท This is a Direct Debit function that is quick, safe and easy to use. It is available for solicitors and large organisations. Once you have set up an account all you need is to provide your fee account number within the body of the email. The fee will then be deducted from your account.
Send the paper form to the Civil National Business Centre with a cheque or postal order for your court fee. If youโre applying for help with fees send the paper form with either:

If you have not already done so, you may wish to consider seeking independent advice on your situation. Any Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, confidential, and impartial advice on a range of matters. Their contact details can be found in the telephone directory or on their website at www.citizensadvice.org.uk.

Dear participant,
I hope you are well. Thank you very much for taking part in the RAPSODI/PD Frontline Study. I am reaching out to you today, as we are recruiting participants for an in-person study with us at University College London Hospital.
Itโs an MRI study based at University College Hospital investigating small bowel motility in Parkinsonโs Disease. During your visit, we will complete a few short questionnaires and a short motor examination. You will then have your first MRI scan which will take a maximum of 15 minutes. You will then drink some liquid slowly over an hour before your second scan. This drink contains mannitol, a sugar that is not absorbed by the small bowel. Although this does not taste particularly pleasant, it is a safe medicine and will help us to visualise the small intestine during your scan. You will be then scanned again for around 15 minutes.
As the scans take place early in the morning (around 8-9am), we can cover for an overnight stay at a nearby hotel if the journey to London would be too long in the morning, as well as travel costs. You would be asked not to take any Parkinsonโs meds in the morning, and to come on an empty stomach (i.e. only water in the morning).
This study is suitable for participants with no contraindications for MRI scans (i.e. no metal in their body), with or without Parkinsonโs, who are either not on Levodopa or on 4 or less doses per day. Please find the Information Sheet attached here.
Does this sound like something you might be interested in?
I appreciate this is a lot of information, so please do take your time to read through this and let me know if you have any questions or concerns! I would be more than happy to schedule in a phone call to answer any questions you might have.
Please see the attached Notice of Hearing for the sentence in the Injunction proceedings.
The hearing is listed on Monday, 10th March 2025 at 10:00am with a time estimate of 2 hours before District Judge Beecham.
The hearing will take place at the County Court at Clerkenwell & Shoreditch at The Gee Street Courthouse, 29-41 Gee Street, London EC1V 3RE.

Dear Mervelee,
Thanks so much for reaching out. We really appreciate it.
In our research we’re doing interviews with residents and others who have experience of living with and/or responding to damp and mould problems. We’re asking people about its impacts and about what has and hasn’t worked in addressing these problems as well as what they feel needs to change so such issues are dealt with better.
Its usually myself and my colleague Ayana, cc’d in, who carry out the interviews. Ayana is doing a PhD in architecture, on a related but separate project on damp and mould.
The interviews we do are semi-structured, usually online via Teams and they last 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on how much people want to say. They are semi-structured and quite informal. As its a university led project we do give everyone an information sheet about the project and a consent form.
How does that sound to you? I’m not sure if it helps with the experience you want to build. But if you have any questions about research let me know, and I’ll see if I can answer them.
If you are still keen to speak wit us, I can send you some dates/times or let me know if you have any preferences.
Let me know if you have any questions. Look forward to hearing back.
Best,
Pratichi

Hi Mervelee, This is our first newsletter of the new year, and itโs tempting to look back at the year that was, or make predictions about what the future holds. But what about the here and now? As our CEO and co-founder Avery writes in a new post, weโre already living in the future, from a tech perspective. Most people have access to computational power that wouldโve seemed unimaginable just a few decades (or even years) back. It can be easy to miss the march of progress, but in many areas of the tech world it is undeniable. At Tailscale, weโve made it our mission to help people make small networks, so you donโt have to worry about all the problems that come with everything being connected to everything else. Averyโs post on living in the future is a good reminder that even those small networks can be very powerful.
๐ Weโd love to hear your thoughts on Tailscale. Filling out this feedback form helps us build a better product for you and other users.
Product Updates
10,000 customers, a new Operations SVP, and the bigger pictureToday, weโre celebrating two milestones at once: First, weโve surpassed 10,000 business customers. Just 10 months ago, we were at 5,000 โ a number that took us over four years to reach. Second, weโre welcoming Grace Lin as our new SVP of Operations. Grace isnโt just an expert in scaling companies; sheโs an expert in doing it with thoughtfulness, integrity, and precision. Better Apple device management with Jamf Pro, integrated with TailscaleFor teams managing fleets of Apple devices, Jamf Pro is well-known as a leading MDM solution. Those teams can now count on an integration with Tailscale to simplify installing and configuring Tailscale on those devices, and to keep the networking access requirements under control. Better node monitoring with new client metrics for PrometheusTailscale client metrics are now available for local or remote examination, and can be directly ingested by Prometheus. These are especially useful for keeping tabs on the health and connectivity of subnet routers, and we think theyโll be an immediate upgrade for users that rely on those, such as users with site-to-site network configurations or teams using Tailscale with Kubernetes. Video: Installing Tailscale on macOSIf youโre installing Tailscale on macOS, the best way to do it is through what we call the โstandalone variantโ. But the standalone variant is just one of three official versions available for macOS. In this post โ and the accompanying video โ weโll discuss all three options, and when you may want to wander off the beaten path. Hey there,
The scandal of unequal pay for in-store workers at Tesco is likely to become a landmark case of collective redress – where ordinary people come together to take effective legal action against large companies. If you or someone you know has ever worked in-store for Tesco on an hourly-paid wage, then you or they could become part of this historic case.ยญAre you eligible?ยญ
Harcus Parker in conjunction with Pay Justice is facilitating the group action – and has provided an easy process for people to sign up and see if they are eligible. It may take some time for the case to finish, but those who join now may end up with up to 6 years’ back pay!ยญJoin the group actionยญ
