My name is Gayle Lewis, and I am a Patient Complaint Officer at Kingโs College Hospital. My reason for contacting you is to introduce myself and to confirm we are taking the concerns you raised about your recent experience at Kingโs forward through the formal complaints process. The Trust aims to have investigated your concerns within 40 working days. Once our investigations are complete we will send you a formal response in a letter from one of our Executive team. If at any stage we find we need more time to complete our investigations we will contact you to inform you of this.
I have read your account of what happened and apologise that this led to you raising a complaint. MM Response: If the persons responsible had acted differently there would be no need for any complaint.
To aid our investigation into your concerns, I have listed key points that you have asked us to respond to. MM Response: I must say some of the key points I want to be addressed have been left out. Therefore, I will address them, so there is clarity.
ยท Complainant arrived to witness Mr Tomlinson falling out of bed, the nurse accompanying the complainant did not notice this. MM Response: Nurse Betty who made matters worse by sending the young man who I believed was trying to act in a compassionate manner towards my husband must be retrained. Since she came in the room to verbally abuse me, then made allegations that I swore to trigger me whilst I was waiting outside in the corridor for Nurse Rose and colleague to complete intimate care of my husband. After I went back in the room, she called the SECURITY and lied. I am holding Nurse Betty responsible for this horrible mess that she created in the first place. I was removed from the room, because Nurse Rose and her colleague looking after my husband failed to speak up when I told the SECURITY to ask if I ABUSED anyone. Therefore, I am taking their SILIENCE as agreeing with Nurse Betty that I abused staff. I need the response to include the staff I abused.
ยท Complainant decided to video events as wanted a record of the incidents that took place. MM Response: Complainant did not just decided to video events because I wanted a record of incidents that took place. I have been recording since the Legal Systems, the Metropolitan Police, Housing for Women, Southwark Council, Maudsley NHS, Southwark Social Care, Individuals including Deborah Agnes Gilchrist, her Partner and Neighbours targeted me. For clarity my husband was placed on Safeguarding by staff at Guys Hospital. Information can be gained via Due Processes. I continued my Defensive Practice when I identified the patterns of Systemic Discrimination when I called the Police because I was assaulted by my stepson who was coerced by the neighbour from HELL I was TERRORISING his father. They came with the same kinds of attitude from the 30th October 2017 to date. I was extra vigilante when I was called by the Social Worker making allegations by the GP who visited my home on the 9th March 2024. It seems as if the NHS has cultivated a CULTURE of LIARS in the HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. Matters seems to be even worse than 2003-2008 when I worked at Mapother House Day Nursery and despite raising concerns to the union, LEA, CRB/DBS, HR, Ofsted. I was left to have a nervous breakdown after the death of my brother aged 56 years old with Colon Cancer. My career was ruined and I had to start my life at the bottom of the Career Ladder. Since I am the victim of CYBERBULLYING CRIMINALS taken my Intellectual Property, Copyrights, Images and CPPDP from I joined Social Media. I must be careful where I go from here. You are welcome to avail yourself of the DATA online. The fact is KINGS failed to support me to get my husband back home to die where he wanted to. The tricks they used are documented online. I was threatened by YouTube when I responded to the TROLLS on my own platform, I spent years creating. Therefore, I will not allow KINGS to get away second time without COMPENSATION for DISCRIMINATION.
ยท Complainant states that nursing staff were abusive towards her and not caring for her husband appropriately. MM Response: I must deal with the specific day in particular. Nurse Betty should have noticed like I did that my husband was at risk when she entered the room. If she was doing her job as she ought to and not pressurized because of Staff Shortages. She would have had time to notice the state my husband was in. I must confess the young man was trying to help. I worked with children and was carer for my husband. He entered the room when I asked him to get help to address the matter. The fact he left the room, tells me he was not trained to address the matter. Without Prejudice I believe he understand the seriousness of the matter when he did not find anyone to address the situation. If the staff at KINGS had not disrespected me and taken the time to get to know MERVELEE MYERS, the wife of ARNOLD TOMLINSON like the staff at Guys did, we would not be addressing this COMPLAINT. The young man was just handling the Food Trolley, he did not consider getting gloves. The way he was handling my husband, I realised he was not trained. But apart from asking why I was recording him, he left the room and sent Nurse Rose in. Whilst am talking to Nurse Rose, he came back in DEMANDING I DELETE the video. He was acting as if he was going to take my phone from my bag. I asked him ASSERTIVELY to leave the room. Nurse Rose convinced him to leave. But then Nurse Betty came SHOUTING for me to stop shouting. I was not shouting, I was talking to Nurse Rose about the reasons for my Defensive Practice. I had to listen to Nurse Rose making some silly mistakes about what had happened and I never made judgements. I know what it is like working in a DEMANDING ENVIRONMENT. I tried making appointment for a meeting. The only person who cared for my husband was John. All I hear is Trevor bring VICAR, blah, blah, blahโฆ Everyone on BYRON ward including the GPs, OHT, Social Worker tried TRICK me, must be disciplined.
ยท Security staff were called and ejected (roughly handling her, causing her fingernail to break) her from the building โ she asked for her coat which was returned with money missing from the pocket. MM Response: The Body Cam from the 2 WHITE RACISTS COWARDLY security must be used in EVIDENCE. I was not just roughly handled, I had to call the Ambulance next day and taken to A&E.
ยท Was safeguarding in place for complainantโs husband? MM Response: Please liaise with Guys about the SAFEGUARDING that was in place. I was lied to by KINGS Staff involved with husband care from the night I was called by the Social Worker. I have recorded all contacts made by KINGS staff when I realised what they were up to.

I am looking forward to a thorough INVESTIGATION. Let me put into context what Kings College NHS Foundation Trust has done to me before. As a result I was a participant in Dr. Maria Hudson Research Paper for the Policy Studies Institute “The Experience of Multiple Discrimination recommended to ACAS.
โข An apology for a poor experience. MM Response: Am expecting more than an APOLOGY. I will be COMPENSATED for DEFAMATION under the Equality Act 2010 Protected Characteristics of Age: My husband and myself disrespected by staff in person and via telephone. Allegations made by staff. I did not get to see my husband before he died. He was still alert and would have noticed me taken from his bedside by the RACIST Police. He was TRAUMATISED the past 10 years. Belief: I was excluded when my stepson bring the vicar to visit my husband. This was communicated to me by the Nurse. I wanted to spend as much time with my husband and hopefully hold his hand. My lasting memories of my father dying without a drink of water, was mum’s disbelief. I did not see my husband from the time I was taken from his bedside. He died on his own. The Hospital failed to call me until 6 hours later. Disability: Both husband and myself. The Hospital must take responsibility for the EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL Abuse of me and my husband. This was directed from the time I was called by the Social Worker. The lies told to trick me to take him back home without the support I was promised. Race: Security Guard. The Body CAM must used as evidence.
โข Process improvements to help ensure a similar occurrence does not happen in the future. MM Response: I MUST have a say in this process. For a WORLD CLASS Hospital, KINGS is a DISGRACE in the DISCRIMINATION of a 101 year old man. The fact that KINGS is responsible for negligence during 2003-2008 when I worked there tells me not much have changed. I am experiencing 10 years of breaches of the Equality Act 2010 Protected Characteristics.
โข Potential retraining for staff, if identified through the course of the investigation. MM Response: This is beginning to sound like all the COMPLAINTS that have not been UPHELD.

Still missing My Papa – 32 years later…
As the years add up there is nothing to relieve the Pain of loosing my Papa Ivan Sandyman NEMBHARD on 9th February 1980. After all these years the hurt is still strong even thou I know God Almighty was gracious in answering OUR Prayers to release You from the pains and sufferings You had born without complaint over the ensuing years. I can recall as if only yesterday the last time I walked into the room to see You before taking my Baby Son Valdin Legister for a walk and You was trying to talk to me, but by that time the speech had gone. On my return I walked into the room and discovered You had taken Your long earned rest and was at Peace with Your GOD. When I called my Mama she did not believe it at first because Your eyes were still opened, and You never had a last drink of water.
The family came together and did what WE had to do. During Your long sickness I questioned Your faith in a GOD who’d allow one of His own to suffer the way You did, and to burden my Mother with having to care for 2 bedridden LOVED ones at the same time. Now that I’ve matured with the years I have become more tolerant, understanding and knowledgable about the Human Lifecycle in general and as a whole process. I can understand more clearly how and why You managed to stick to Your Faith in the one True GOD who passeth all understanding and although I will never be able to be the Standard Bearer You were I work hard to emulate You in my daily life.
I am asssured that You are at a safer Place, and is My Guiding Star in times like now when am going through Trials and Tribulations that are at times too much for me to bear alone. I am counting on YOU to keep me from commiting any of the Follies that You withstood throughout Your life here on Earth. This period and time of the year is very difficult for ME and I asks that You continue to assist Me in getting over safe and sound. THANK You Papa You were One in a Million and safe in the arms of GOD!!!
Oh spoke 2 my Mama & she can’t remember my Papa nor her Mama… So it is now left 2 ME 2 keep ALL the Memories Alive til my turn comes!!! Her voice is still strong thou…

The claims were issued by the CLAIMANT via the Online Civil Money Claims Pilot (the Pilot).
The CLAIMANT is seeking that all five of the CLAIMS go to HEARING to prove that the DEFENDANT breached the Amended Housing Act 1988 and Eviction Act 1977. And this is a pattern of UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT by the DEFENDANT using Devonshires Solicitors LLP to target RESIDENTS who raise LEGITIMATE CONCERNS about our LANDLORDS. My COMPLAINTS reached Stage 2 of the procedures, and everything WIPED from the Customer Portal, and I was locked out. After I was threatened with EVICTION via telephone. The Housing Ombudsman Service was informed, and I have since taken a CLAIMS against them. The MP Neil Coyle had contacted Housing for Women twice on my behalf. I even contacted the Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin to mediate on my behalf.

The Committal Hearing that took place on 12 June 2024, must be viewed with the BEREAVEMENTS and LOSSESS and my PERSONAL CRISIS triggering the POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER from my CHILDHOOD TRAUMAS. ALL ORDERS are NULL & VOID.

The HEARING for SENTENCING was conducted in March 2025 leading to HHJ Richard Roberts acting like the RANTING RAVING LUNATIC mentioning Winsome Duncan and DJ Sterlini, whom I have never met, but whose name is on correspondence for striking out the CLAIM with Winsome Duncan. This claim reached Telephone Mediation and was then struck out. DJ Sterlini name appeared on the 1 August 2023 labelling me a VIOLENT NUISANCE. Imagine how I felt knowing about my CONTRIBUTIONS as a member of the WINDRUSH GENERATION whose ENTITLEMENTS had denied me after the death of my MOTHER with DEMENTIA. IN HONOUR OF STRONG WOMEN EVERYWHERE was published in 2022 the year in May Trina Philbert stated my ASB started. We MUST therefore take a look at 2023 in its ENTIRETY because it was the year my HUSBAND celebrated his 100 BIRTHDAYS.

But which never materialised until I was sent email by HOS solicitors. Because I raised complaints about the HOS before putting in my claims I will use my Social Media platforms sharing the STORRIES. The law was introduced following the death of 2-year-old Awaab Ishak, who died from exposure to damp and mould in his social rented home. MM Response: I did a RESEARCH for the University of Huddersfield about DAMP and MOULD. Dr Phil Gregory was shown the MOULD and DISREPAIR when he visited 16 Alma Grove. The first set of legislation around damp and mould will be rolled out in October 2025. We will be hosting sessions with MHCLG over the next couple of months to discuss how the introduction of Awaab’s Law will impact landlords’ services to residents. The Museum of Cambridge is excited to launch our new community co-curated exhibition โLegacies of Windrush in Cambridgeโ, in partnership with Dr Carol Brown-Leonardi and the African Caribbean Research Group, opening on 26th of April 2025. The first exhibition of its kind, it shines a light on the lives and experiences of the Caribbean Windrush community and those who left an indelible mark on Cambridge and the UK.
Featuring for the first time a series of oral histories from local Caribbean Elders in Cambridge, the oral histories capture special moments of family history, experiences and invaluable community stories. Stories collected in partnership with Dr Carol Brown-Leonardi share the fantastic legacy of the Windrush generation through music, food, religion, the arts and community. From pub landlords, local newsagent owners and steelpan bands, the exhibition celebrates the people at the heart of Cambridgeโs community.
This project was only made possible thanks to public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Border Crossings’ ORIGINS Festival celebrates the world’s First Nations in an explosion of art, performanceย and debate
It began when Border Crossings ORIGINS Festival commissioned us to respond to the work of Indigenous Australian musician Jessie Lloyd, who they had commissioned to undertake a residency in Brixton, working with the local community to discover songs and stories from the 75 years that have passed since the Windrush brought the first post-war migrants to London from the Caribbean.
Jessie Lloyd applied the methodology that she evolved to work with Indigenous Elders in her MISSION SONGS project, and collaborating with Brixton-born artist Tony Cealy, she explored the commonalities of experience between Indigenous Australians and Black Britons, using music to commemorate local heritage, within global histories of racism and emerging processes of reconciliation.
Inspired by the parallels between Jessieโs grandfather Albie Geia, who was a leader in the 1957 Palm Island Strike, which, like the events in Brixton in 1981, were labelled โriotsโ ( leading to Albie’s imprisonment), the project draws on ‘Brixton’s’ role as a site & beacon of resistance. These connections also coincided with 81 Acts movement, commemorating the 40 Anniversary of the Brixton uprisings of 1981.
Our response to Jessie’s residency is Songstreets; a site-specific, immersive experience that weaves the songs through the streets of Brixton and uncovers their extraordinary stories.
We worked closely with Brixton artist Tony Cealyย as the lead narrator and a host ofย incredible local voicesย ย – from activists to musicians, homeless folk to sound-system experts, Caribbean elders groups to pirate radio MC’s – we walked talked and recorded a series of stories that emerged from these streets and these songs.ย –ย The result is this truly site-specific journey, accessed through ourย AswarmXR mobile app.

BORDER CROSSINGSโ ORIGINS FESTIVAL CELEBRATES THE WORLDโS FIRST NATIONS IN AN EXPLOSION OF ART, PERFORMANCE AND DEBATE. ORIGINS creates a unique opportunity to engage with Indigenous artists and activists at the cutting edge of cultural resistance, environmentalism and spiritual tradition. Working with some of the most significant cultural institutions in London, ORIGINS brings the world’s Indigenous artists and cultures to the heart of the capital.
Border Crossings came to us back in 2020, as part of the 81Acts movement (commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Brixton Uprisings of 1981) and the UK/Australia season 21/22, with the question how could we use our unique skill – for connecting people, place and technology into interactive public art works- to respond and compose to Jessies Lloyds research within Brixton’s community. – We then promptly entered the Covid era.. We’re really delighted to say we’ve since built a really good collaborative working relationship, together making sure the seeds of Jessie Lloyd’s residency in Brixton have grown and blossomed into something we’re really proud of: Songstreets – An art project that is both rooted in the Black and Caribbean community of Brixton and that has tendrils that reach deep down under responding to Jessies perspective too.

Jessie Lloyd is an award-winning Indigenous Australian singer, social historian and cultural practitioner of Indigenous song, who revives the music of Indigenous Elders in Australia. As with Jessie’s MISSION SONGS PROJECT, in Brixton she embarked on a musical journey with the local community, to research and reveal the forgotten stories and unexplored corners of recent history.โ Her process ranged from collaborating with the community to compose new songs, to recording existing songs that the community felt served to trigger and carry stories, to writing her own inspired by these encounters.
Tony Cealy >> Artist & Lead Narrator
Arts Practitioner and Trainer for Drama and Theatre. Producer of Programmes, Workshops and Theatre Projects. Born in Brixton, a child of the Windrush, Tony is one of those people you cant walk 20 yards down the road with, without bumping into someone he knows, whose smile and greeting leads to conversation. – He was a key person opening the doors for Jessie into this community. Walking and talking with Tony, recording the stories that emerge from these streets and the characters we encountered on our various journey’s provided the pot of sauces to cook up this piece and fed the threads to weave these songs around these streets. As Practitioner, Tony uses drama and theatre to encourage self-awareness and to assist individuals in exploring the idea of change and the impact that it may have on their lives. His projects and programmes vary from more recreational, usually drama-based activities leading to theatre or digital multimedia productions, to institutional change, to founding and running groups that are empowered to make this happen. https://tonycealy.com/

Drawing on over 20 yrs of experience in both the corporate and Arts sector, Gesture offers an end-to-end design & development service.
Experienced in conducting R&D for organisations such as American Express, The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Honeywell, Hitachi, UBS, EE and Tideway. Gesture has also produced interactive content for London Fashion Week, the Venice Biennale and the Science Museum.
