Today is World Cancer Day. An international day that takes place each year to raise awareness about cancer and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. At Cancer Research UK, we’re marking today across our social media channels, and shining a spotlight on our work as the world’s leading cancer charity, dedicated to saving and improving lives through our research, influence and information.
This week, we have two new opportunities to get involved. We’re asking about your experience of volunteering and being part of the Involvement Network at Cancer Research UK to help us improve the way we work with our volunteers in the future. The next survey asks what information you’d need to help you make an informed decision when considering a clinical trial.
Cancer Research UK has launched a £10m Cancer Data Driven Detection initiative, transforming how we assess cancer risk to advance early detection and precision prevention. We’d like to thank the network members who are involved in this important piece of work to help to revolutionise research and deliver real-world impact.
I hope you have a lovely week and thanks for your continued support and involvement in our work.

Survey – Development of a new clinical trials information resource for patientsThe Experimental Cancer Medicines Centres (ECMC) are developing a patient information website to provide cancer patients who are considering early phase clinical trials more information about them. We’d like to hear from cancer patients not currently participating in clinical trials about what information they need to make an informed decision when considering trials.Find out more

Media Volunteer newsletter – February 2025Dear Media Volunteer,As many of you will know, today is World Cancer Day. This annual event gives us the opportunity to remember those lost to cancer but also the progress we have made in cancer research over the years. It also acts, of course, as a reminder of why we must keep raising awareness and funds for research.
We’ve been marking the day with activity including Tommy (pictured above with his grandson) featuring in emails from Ticketmaster, one of our Corporate Partners.
Tommy, who appears in our “We Are” Brand campaign, took part in our TUXEDO clinical trial after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer.
It has also been a busy start to the year in other respects, with more information below about the relaunch of Race for Life, new films for our Legacy campaign and new posters in our shops supporting our work on cancers affecting children and young people – all supported by media volunteers like you.
Finally, we’d ask that you consider completing our latest volunteer survey to help shape how we work with our volunteers across the charity. More details below!Thank you for being a media volunteer.
Best wishes, Keyan Milanian Media Volunteer Liaison team
How your stories are helping usHelp shape our work – Volunteer surveyThis February, we’re asking all volunteers to complete a survey to help us to gain a better understanding of our volunteer community and your experiences while volunteering with us.
The survey is completely anonymous and your responses will help us to make CRUK a more enjoyable, diverse and inclusive place to volunteer. Find out more on the Volunteer Hub. The survey closes on Monday 24 February.Complete the surveyRace for Life launchOur Race for Life 2025 season is now underway and media volunteer Jenny Hicks was on hand to help with the launch last month.
Breast cancer patient Jenny, from St Albans, recorded a new radio and YouTube advert which has gone out on stations throughout the UK to help highlight this year’s forthcoming events.
Jenny, from St Albans, spoke of how much her two best friends, Alison and Jane (pictured from left to right, Alison, Jenny and Jane), mean to her and why they’ve inspired her to take part in Race for Life. The trio have known each other for 60 years and all three have been treated for breast cancer. Though Jenny’s cancer is now incurable the bond between the friends is stronger than ever.Read more Race for Life hereLegacy campaignMedia Volunteers Jesse (right) and Laurel (left) are appearing on TV as part of a new Legacy campaign in the coming weeks.
Jesse and Laurel both received radiotherapy as part of their treatment and are featuring in special short films on Channel 5 to encourage people to leave gifts in their Wills to help fund our research.See more of our films here
Bowelbabe Fund and the London MarathonSam, a mum of two and new media volunteer, shared her story on social media as she prepares to run for the Bowelbabe Fund.
An anal cancer survivor, Sam lost her partner Chris to gall bladder cancer in 2017.

Updated EVIDENCE
Based on the following ENGAGEMENTS with the Metropolitan Police and the NHS Ambulance Service the following must be considered as MERVELEE MYERS’ updated EVIDENCE Claim K05EC530 listed for the 7 March 2025 at 10:00, time estimate 1 day, reserved to DJ Beecham. I also want to put on record about the unprofessional conduct of the Solicitors Sola Obajuluwa and Barrister Miranda Grell representing me. I received the 2 letters via emails on the 24 January 2025 after complaints were raised, but the complaints have not been addressed. The date he told for the case is 10 March 2025 and I got the COURT ORDER on 26 December 2024 with INACURRACIES.
It is obvious that the Counsel for Mervelee Myers is misleading me about the case and doing everything to make me a VICTIM of Housing for Women and Devonshires Solicitors LLP. This is the pattern of the Systemic Discrimination leading to HMCTS miscarriages of justice from Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust 2003-2008 when I had to resign with a NERVOUS BREAKDOWN after the death of my brother with Colon Cancer. Bereavement and losses playing important factors in the UNLAWFUL INJUNCTION during July – August 2023. Because I was not informed about the Court Order until after the stages from DJ Greenidge to DJ Sterlini labelling me a VIOLENT NUISANCE. The breaches of the Equality Act 2010 Protected Characteristics to be addressed are documented online as social media and YouTube in particular MUST be EVIDENCED.
NHS MEDICAL GASLIGHTING TO COVER BREACHES OF EQUALITY ACT
Date: 22 January 2025 NHS Ambulance Service CAD 1804 was sent by the Metropolitan Police re a MALICIOUS REPORT. The pattern of the MR goes back to 30 October 2017 when the Met Police and NHS Ambulance came to SECTION me from Winsome Duncan and Barrister Ryan Clement MR. Georgina and Dr Ocansey 02032282240 unannounced visit to my home. I am awaiting an invitation to meeting and letter to clarify what STATE I was in when they visited. https://www.youtube.com/live/oLbPBnx9e7o?si=tWRW97jxZgty3grP.
Date: 20 January 2025 the NHS Ambulance Service was let into 16 Alma Grove Bermondsey London SE1 5PY by Deborah Agnes Gilchrist. I could hear Ms Gilchrist and people outside my door for hours until I fall asleep. When I wake up the next morning a note was pushed under the door. I must put on record the fact that the Met Police and NHS Ambulance Service visited my home on the 30th of October 2017 to SECTION me from a malicious report by Winsome Duncan that I wrote on Facebook I was feeling SUICIDAL is when the fact my photograph was across from a STATISTIC was used to make me a VICTIM. There has been a pattern of breaches of the Equality Act 2010 Protected Characteristics since the 30 October 2017 to SECTION, MURDER and KIDNAP me from my home at Alma Grove based on the MALICIOUS reports of INDIVIDUALS from I decided to challenge my former employers http://www.leyf.org.uk.

Attempts to SECTION MURDER KIDNAP me to Cover for LEYF
This happened between 30 October 2017 to 20 January 2025 at 16 Alma Grove Bermondsey the results of MALICIOUS REPORTS about my MENTAL HEALTH. HCT Group Impact Report 2016 statistic of 1 in 5 of all SUICIDES are associated with UNEMPLOYMENT was used by Barrister Ryan Clement who groomed Winsome Duncan to send the Police to SECTION me despite refusing to act about verbal threats. When I did not commit SUICIDE my husband and I became 600.000 older people in the UK say they get out of the house once a week or less. The past 10 years since the death of my MOTHER I have been excluded and the final straw that breaks the camel’s back is how I was excluded from the DRUMOLOGY at Moonshot after meeting the Artistic Director of IRIE. The only reasons I can think of is the same way I was kicked out of the University of East London after I was called by Richard Harty. The fact that Dr Phil Gregory mention the UEL in his DEFAMATORY Medical Report that is not FACTUAL must be taken into EVIDENCE.

BORDER CROSSINGS TURNS 30!
30 years ago today, on 30th January 1995, Border Crossings was officially registered as a company in the UK. We’re going to be marking this milestone with commemorative events throughout the year, looking back over past projects and forwards to future developments.
As part of this anniversary programme, we’ll be putting out 30 social media posts at intervals through 2025, each one featuring a significant moment on our journey so far. Follow the story with the hashtag #bordercrossings30
Today’s posts recall a very early project: FAITH HEALER by Brian Friel. Directed by Richard Allen Cave, who co-founded the company with Michael Walling, this piece toured to Brazil, Egypt, France and Hungary for the British Council. On our blog, Michael reflects on how FAITH HEALER paved the way for subsequent ideas and developments at Border Crossings. Here are the wonderful cast, all still working today, 30 years on!
THE MOUTH OF THE GODS – PROJECT NEWS
The shows may be over, but the project is not. Since THE MOUTH OF THE GODS had its last performance at Hoxton Hall back in December, we’ve been working on a digital version of the piece, which not only encapsulates many inspiring moments from the performance, but also traces their development through a deep and searching exploration of Latin American histories and cultural heritage. We’ll be screening the film for project participants in April, and putting it online after that. If you weren’t able to make it to the show (or even if you were!), this will be a chance to experience the opera in a different form.
SUPPORT US IN OUR ANNIVERSARY YEAR
THE MOUTH OF THE GODS was presented without charging for tickets, and we are working hard to apply this policy across as much of our work as we possibly can. We strongly believe that art and culture are not commodities but spaces for shared thought and celebration, which have to be genuinely accessible to our whole society. If you would like to make a financial contribution to support our future work, please go to our Just Giving page.

Dear Mervelee,
Thanks so much for reaching out. We really appreciate it.
In our research we’re doing interviews with residents and others who have experience of living with and/or responding to damp and mould problems. We’re asking people about its impacts and about what has and hasn’t worked in addressing these problems as well as what they feel needs to change so such issues are dealt with better.
It’s usually myself and my colleague Ayana, cc’d in, who carry out the interviews. Ayana is doing a PhD in architecture, on a related but separate project on damp and mould.
The interviews we do are semi-structured, usually online via Teams and they last 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on how much people want to say. They are semi-structured and quite informal. As it’s a university led project, we do give everyone an information sheet about the project and a consent form.
How does that sound to you? I’m not sure if it helps with the experience you want to build. But if you have any questions about research let me know, and I’ll see if I can answer them.
If you are still keen to speak with us, I can send you sometime of these dates or let me know if you have any preferences.
Let me know if you have any questions. Look forward to hearing back.
Best,
Pratichi

Diagnosing Mums’ DEMENTIA
Hi Mervelee,
Every day, our dementia specialist Admiral Nurses offer a lifeline to people affected by dementia. They provide families across the UK with expert dementia support; share practical information and advice; and help to break down stigma and misunderstandings around the condition.
To shine a light on some of these misconceptions about dementia, we’ve created a quick myth-busting quiz.

Need some hints? You’ll find all the answers in our ‘Living with dementia’ guide, along with lots of other helpful advice written by Admiral Nurses.
This guide is just one of the ways we support people affected by dementia. Whether it’s through our ‘Dementia: what next?’ online sessions, on our free Helpline or in virtual clinic appointments, we’re here to help every step of the way.

Mervelee Myers In Parkinson’s UK Brochure 2018/2019
Hi Mervelee,
I hope you and your loved ones are enjoying a great start to 2025.
Here at Parkinson’s UK we kicked off the year with the launch of our refreshed brand. Want to take a peek?
See our refreshed brand
Our last rebrand was 15 years ago. A lot has changed since then, including the priorities of the Parkinson’s community. So, we needed to shift our focus to better meet their needs.
Refreshing our brand better reflects who we are as a charity and means we can be there for you when you need us.
Over 1,000 members of the Parkinson’s community were involved in our brand refresh. We’re so grateful to everyone who took part in the process, from people with Parkinson’s, family, friends and carers, to scientists and health and social care professionals. You spoke, we listened, and together we’ve shaped something powerful.
Parkinson’s new tulip
A Tulip
So, why a tulip? Our new logo incorporates a tulip symbol, which represents a pretty special tulip variety. It’s called the Dr James Parkinson tulip, created in 1980 and named after the scientist who first documented the condition in 1817.
For every Parkinson’s journey
Our new strapline is ‘For every Parkinson’s journey’. Whether you have Parkinson’s, or know or care for someone who does, we’re here for you when you need us.
Explore our refreshed brand
Thank you for being a part of the Parkinson’s community. We hope you love our new look and focus as much as we do.

Jane, Alison and I have been friends for over 60 years. We do everything together, including supporting one another through cancer treatment. My treatment is ongoing, but thanks to the work of Cancer Research UK, I’m able to lead a full, active life, and Jane and Alison are still right beside me.
So, we ‘Race for Life’ because we’ve all been there and because by raising money for Cancer Research UK, together we ARE beating cancer.”
Whether you’re in treatment for cancer, a survivor or taking part in honour of, or in memory of, a loved one with cancer, we’d love to hear from you. People affected by cancer are at the heart of Cancer Research UK. We’ll always treat your information with the care and sensitivity that it deserves.
Through sharing your stories, you can help people understand cancer and raise awareness about our vital research and campaigns, so why not become a media volunteer today?Share your story

MY EMAIL HASN’T BEEN RESPONDED TO
We are experiencing high volume of emails coming into the court with a reduced administrative resource. Please do not send multiple requests, as we are currently unable to deal with them. Please limit your correspondence to urgent matters only or documents for hearings. Most general queries can be answered by checking the gov.uk website.
If you are getting in touch about an upcoming hearing date or urgent matters, we will reply as soon as we can.
I AM WAITING FOR A COURT ORDER / APPLICATION / MY CASE TO BE LISTED
We are working hard to deal with incoming orders, applications, listing hearings and urgent matters. Notification will be sent out in due course. Your patience is appreciated at this time.
TRIAL BUNDLES
Please send hard copy trial bundles to the court which complies with the requirements of Rule 39.5 Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Direction 31 paragraph 27. If emailing a trial bundle, please make sure the order relating to the hearing allows for an online bundle and that the bundle complies with CPR 32 in the Practice Direction, paragraph 27.
SENDING EMAILS TO THE COURT
Please ensure the subject line of your email includes the correct case number and any applicable hearing date.
If you have already sent documents to the court by post, please do not resend the documents by email.
You may be able to save £30 by issuing a claim for possession of property online rather than sending it to the court.
The fees for issuing a money claim are also cheaper, with savings ranging from £10 to £105 depending on the sum you are claiming.
LEGAL ADVICE:
Please be aware that HM Court Service staff are not legally trained and must remain neutral at all times. They cannot examine documents and give an opinion on their contents or upon any aspect of a case. It is the responsibility of the parties to ensure that they file the correct documents in the correct format. It is for you to find out the options available to you and, where necessary, seek independent legal advice. It is for you to decide what options to take and to ensure you understand the implications of that option.

2. EMAIL GUIDANCE
Any e-mail which fails to comply with the guidance will not be processed and will be returned to you.
All enquiries to civil courts and family courts can be received by email.
· You can send all letters and documents (exemptions are listed below) relevant to the case including adoption cases. However, due to the sensitive nature of adoption work, the court will only send emails to secure email accounts.
· An email account is considered secure when security measures are in place to make sure the data in the email can’t be accessed by users without the relevant approval. Any account that ends in the following is considered secured: gsi, pnn, gsx, gcsx, gse, cjsm, and nhs.net.
· If you are attaching a copy of an order from a hearing for the Court to process, please ensure that you are submitting it in Word format only.
SENDING BUNDLES
· Please note that court bundles are not part of this process and we will not print them. Some Local Authorities are piloting the use of Cloud-based ‘E-bundle’ storage solutions that allow all parties involved in a case to view and download the evidence electronically. This is different to the receipt of bundles by email. The court can not accept documents that require the setting up of an account or a password.
3. EMAIL SPECIFICATIONS AND EXEMPTIONS FOR HMTCS
· All Civil and Family process, applications and documents will be accepted by email as long as when the entire email is printed out it is not more than 50 pages. This should include the email, all attachments (including any documents embedded in another) and enough copies to serve on required parties (excluding Local Authorities, CAFCASS and CAFCASS CYMRU for Family cases only).
· The total size of the email, including any attachments, must be less than 10mb.
Please note that:
· A page is one side, so 50 pages equals 25 pieces of paper printed on both sides.
· Requests for the issue of Specified or Unspecified civil claims are excluded from this process. However, any subsequent process that leads from this following the issues of the claim will be accepted.
· Do not use more than one email to take any step in a case which requires a document or documents to be filed.
4. SENDING EMAILS WITH ASSOCIATED FEES
· In both Civil and Family cases court processes that carry a fee can also be received by email and processed by court staff. However the same conditions as above must apply and in addition:
· the party issuing the process must either quote a Fee Account number (see below), or
· the party who wants to pay has a valid credit or debit card. If you wish to pay using this method please say this on the email and include a contact number for the Court to contact you to take payment.
· Please note Local Authorities are exempt from this provision.
· What is a Fee Account?
· This is a Direct Debit function that is quick, safe and easy to use. It is available for solicitors and large organisations. Once you have set up an account all you need is to provide your fee account number within the body of the email. The fee will then be deducted from your account.
Send the paper form to the Civil National Business Centre with a cheque or postal order for your court fee. If you’re applying for help with fees send the paper form with either:
· the ‘help with fees’ reference number you’ll get when you apply for help online
· your completed ‘help with fees’ application form, if you’re applying for help by post
Civil National Business Centre St Katharine’s House 21-27 St Katharine’s Street Northampton NN1 2LH

7. COMPLAINTS
· If you are unhappy with a part of your experience using the court service, please be aware that the judiciary are constitutionally independent of Government and the administration of the courts.
· If you feel that decision was incorrect, the proper course of action is to consider whether to appeal the decision. We cannot help you to decide this or resolve it through the administrative complaints process, so we suggest you seek legal advice. If you have not already done so, you may wish to consider seeking independent advice on your situation. Any Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, confidential, and impartial advice on a range of matters. Their contact details can be found in the telephone directory or on their website at www.citizensadvice.org.uk.
· If your complaint is about how the judge conducted your case you can contact the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office online at https://www.complaints.judicialconduct.gov.uk, or send to Room 81-82, Queen’s Building, Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, WC2A 2LL, You need to do this within three months.
8. LEGAL ADVICE
· HM Court Service staff are not legally trained and must remain strictly neutral at all times. They cannot therefore examine documents and give an opinion on their contents or upon any aspect of a case. I hope you are well. Thank you very much for taking part in the RAPSODI/PD Frontline Study. I am reaching out to you today, as we are recruiting participants for an in-person study with us at University College London Hospital.
It’s an MRI study based at University College Hospital investigating small bowel motility in Parkinson’s Disease. During your visit, we will complete a few short questionnaires and a short motor examination. You will then have your first MRI scan which will take a maximum of 15 minutes. You will then drink some liquid slowly over an hour before your second scan. This drink contains mannitol, a sugar that is not absorbed by the small bowel. Although this does not taste particularly pleasant, it is a safe medicine and will help us to visualise the small intestine during your scan. You will be then scanned again for around 15 minutes.
As the scans take place early in the morning (around 8-9am), we can cover for an overnight stay at a nearby hotel if the journey to London would be too long in the morning, as well as travel costs. You would be asked not to take any Parkinson’s meds in the morning, and to come on an empty stomach (i.e. only water in the morning).
This study is suitable for participants with no contraindications for MRI scans (i.e. no metal in their body), with or without Parkinson’s, who are either not on Levodopa or on 4 or less doses per day. Please find the Information Sheet attached here.
Does this sound like something you might be interested in?
I appreciate this is a lot of information, so please do take your time to read through this and let me know if you have any questions or concerns! I would be more than happy to schedule in a phone call to answer any questions you might have.

Its usually myself and my colleague Ayana, cc’d in, who carry out the interviews. Ayana is doing a PhD in architecture, on a related but separate project on damp and mould.
The interviews we do are semi-structured, usually online via Teams and they last 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on how much people want to say. They are semi-structured and quite informal. As its a university led project we do give everyone an information sheet about the project and a consent form.
How does that sound to you? I’m not sure if it helps with the experience you want to build. But if you have any questions about research let me know, and I’ll see if I can answer them.
If you are still keen to speak wit us, I can send you some dates/times or let me know if you have any preferences.
Let me know if you have any questions. Look forward to hearing back.
Best,
Pratichi

Hi Mervelee, This is our first newsletter of the new year, and it’s tempting to look back at the year that was, or make predictions about what the future holds. But what about the here and now? As our CEO and co-founder Avery writes in a new post, we’re already living in the future, from a tech perspective. Most people have access to computational power that would’ve seemed unimaginable just a few decades (or even years) back. It can be easy to miss the march of progress, but in many areas of the tech world it is undeniable. At Tailscale, we’ve made it our mission to help people make small networks, so you don’t have to worry about all the problems that come with everything being connected to everything else. Avery’s post on living in the future is a good reminder that even those small networks can be very powerful.
👉 We’d love to hear your thoughts on Tailscale. Filling out this feedback form helps us build a better product for you and other users.
Product Updates
10,000 customers, a new Operations SVP, and the bigger pictureToday, we’re celebrating two milestones at once: First, we’ve surpassed 10,000 business customers. Just 10 months ago, we were at 5,000 — a number that took us over four years to reach. Second, we’re welcoming Grace Lin as our new SVP of Operations. Grace isn’t just an expert in scaling companies; she’s an expert in doing it with thoughtfulness, integrity, and precision. Better Apple device management with Jamf Pro, integrated with TailscaleFor teams managing fleets of Apple devices, Jamf Pro is well-known as a leading MDM solution. Those teams can now count on an integration with Tailscale to simplify installing and configuring Tailscale on those devices, and to keep the networking access requirements under control. Better node monitoring with new client metrics for PrometheusTailscale client metrics are now available for local or remote examination, and can be directly ingested by Prometheus. These are especially useful for keeping tabs on the health and connectivity of subnet routers, and we think they’ll be an immediate upgrade for users that rely on those, such as users with site-to-site network configurations or teams using Tailscale with Kubernetes. Video: Installing Tailscale on macOSIf you’re installing Tailscale on macOS, the best way to do it is through what we call the “standalone variant”. But the standalone variant is just one of three official versions available for macOS. In this post — and the accompanying video — we’ll discuss all three options, and when you may want to wander off the beaten path. Tailscale crossword: Any port in a stormThe holiday season includes a little bonus holiday for the cruciverbalists out there: December 21 is National Crossword Puzzle Day. To mark the holiday we published a new Tailscale crossword puzzle, which is just as good a month later. Want to build something using these new releases?
Project Bob: “Avionics Pods”A team that focuses on “great execution on dumb hobbies” is building a pair of autonomous oceancraft that will livestream an attempt to circumnavigate the globe. The drones will be connected through Starlink and Tailscale, and documented in build log. Dorian Monnier: “Tailscale LocalAPI”This blog post describes some spelunking into an internal Tailscale API in order to reproduce the behavior in our golink application. Namely, to authenticate connecting Tailscale users and give them access based on roles defined in Tailscale ACL. “I Developed a Minimalist Linux Distro with Tailscale Built-In”From the Tailscale subreddit, a description of “Sbnb Linux, a minimalist Linux distribution” designed “to boot bare-metal servers and establish remote connectivity effortlessly using Tailscale.”
