During her visit, Her Royal Highness helped our nursery teachers serve breakfast to the children, highlighting the importance of nutritious food for a child’s development. She also spoke to the apprentices at the LEYF Early Years Chef Academy, which is also based at Stockwell Gardens Nursery & Pre School, and offers the first specialist qualification for chefs either working or keen to work with children up to the age of eight.
As part of The Duchess’s firm commitment to her work on Early Years, this landmark survey will give people across the UK an opportunity to provide their view on raising the next generation. Click here to join the conversation.
The survey contains just five short questions and ultimately aims to help bring about lasting change for children, families and communities in the UK. It is designed to bring together the thoughts of as many individuals, organisations and businesses as possible – recognising that everyone has a role to play in ensuring that children have the best possible start in life.
The findings will be a vital source of information for the Early Years sector, helping it to better understand public perceptions of the importance of the early years, and the first-hand experiences of parents, families and carers. This public feedback will also help to focus Her Royal Highness’ work through The Royal Foundation as she endeavors to provide children across the UK with the best foundations to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Threats of RESIGNATION start at BIB, yet Remi, Flavia & Rujina did after I left. Sao Banya sent to Brixton under false pretense to be Deputy. SB still Kissing Arse at @LEYF & bidding her time to get out. Are they going to make up stories how I come by their emails? MB am I the reason u Resigned or the Bad Blood – taken back from role at CO Quality Assurance -E1T1 to be manager at NC. Then Alison Stokes got given Area Manager. I once Respected MB, but no longer. Thieves & Liars walk hand in hand. Give me a Murder anytime. Interesting read in the Evening Standard: It’s not always easy to part company. References: Mos employers are careful about what they say in a reference for fear of legal action. Introduction and rationale to policy 1.1. The compensation and reimbursement policy sets out Housing for Women’s approach to compensation for service failures. It details some circumstances when compensation will be considered and what the compensation may be. It should be noted this is not an exhaustive list of circumstances and each case will be considered in its own merit. 1.2. Housing for Women encourages all our residents to have some contents insurance as compensation will only be paid for damage to residents’ personal property in exceptional circumstances. 2. Policy Statement (including Scope and Aims) 2.1. The aim of this policy is to provide redress to our residents and restore their home and amenities to the position they would have been in had service failure not occurred. It should be noted that Housing for Women will consider other remedies to put a situation right but, in some instances, financial compensation may be the only and/or appropriate form of redress. 2.2. This policy covers circumstances when Housing for Women may provide customers with financial compensation because of a failure in service delivery or reimbursement for sums expended. It should be read in conjunction with our Complaints Policy but claims for compensation or reimbursement can be considered without being part of a complaint. 2.3. This policy applies to all customers in receipt of housing and/or support services from Housing for Women. It does not apply to members of the public who have no contractual relationship with the organisation. This policy will apply to leaseholders only where there is a direct contractual relationship between Housing for Women and the lessee. 3. Location of this policy To be inserted 4. Definitions Compensation: something, typically money, awarded to someone to make amends or in recognition of a failure in delivery of service, or failure in how the service has been delivered. Reimbursement: to make repayment for an actual expense or loss incurred. Goodwill: this is discretionary and may be given where we decide that there is a shortfall in the level of service, or the action/inaction is not in line with our service standards. This covers issues where we have financially disadvantaged a customer. 5. Exclusions 5.1 We will not pay compensation if: • The fault, delay to works or loss was outside of our control, for example, if there is a strike or inclement weather or the resident did not give us access to their home or caused delay in any other way • Loss or damage was the fault of the resident, their family, pets, or visitors including failure to report the repair promptly, keep appointments or follow advice provided by the association (e.g., prevention of mould and condensation) • The loss or damaged occurred because of an alteration to the property or its facilities which were carried out by the resident, without the permission of the Association or 3 V2 completed to the required standard. 5.2 The compensation policy does not cover claims for an alleged effect on a resident’s health, or their households’ health, due to a service failure. Any resident believing their health, mental or physical wellbeing has been affected and wishes to seek financial compensation should notify Housing for Women and our insurers will be notified and the claim investigated and dealt with solely by insurers. 6. Policy 6.1. Mandatory/Statutory Compensation is where there is a legal, or other external requirement to compensate. This could include home loss, disturbance, improvements, and payments under the Right to Repair scheme 6.2. Quantifiable Compensation should be evidence of quantifiable loss which could include increased heating bills due to disrepair, having to pay for alternative accommodation or take away food, paying for cleaning or carrying out repairs where a landlord has failed to meet its obligations. This should come with a caveat that any such costs must have been reasonably incurred and evidence of such loss has been provided. 6.3. Discretionary compensation can be made but is not limited to: • poor complaint handling • delays in providing a service e.g., in undertaking a repair • failure to provide a service that has been charged for • temporary loss of amenity • failure to meet target response times • loss of use of part of the property • failure to follow policy and procedure • unreasonable time taken to resolve a situation 6.4. Compensation is not automatic and will not apply where the service failure or mistake has not caused any problems or where it can be easily remedied. 6.5. Compensation will always be offset against any arrears or other sums owed to the association to be varied at the absolute discretion of the Chief Executive. 6.6. Staff will be alert to situations where compensation might be payable as detailed in this policy and other associated policies, e.g., the Complaints Policy and will work towards resolving the situation promptly, without the need for the residents to make a claim. 6.7. We will not rely on our residents to advise us that they want to make a claim for compensation, for us to act effectively. In many instances an apology may be what is required in addition to resolving the outstanding issue, for our residents to be assured that their issue has been resolved satisfactorily. However, any claims made by our residents will be considered fairly. 6.8. We will investigate all claims thoroughly and within the set timescales as detailed in our Complaints Policy and advise our residents who is dealing with their claim. 7. Compensation calculation and types 7.1. Payments can be made in many forms. Except for situations where statutory compensation applies, we will consider the following compensation methods: • Letter of apology • Flowers/Gifts • Shopping Vouchers 4 V2 • Bank transfer • Rent Free period • Improvement to property • Payment off any arrears balance 7.2. The Level of compensation will reflect the level of inconvenience, disturbance, or annoyance suffered and the extent to which Housing for Women has been directly responsible. It will also consider the time taken to resolve the problem and any additional costs incurred by a resident in making a complaint may be reimbursed to them in full or in part. Examples include excessive electricity used by workmen, excessive telephone calls and independent reports. 7.3. If we are unable to pay compensation, we will advise the resident stating the reasons for refusal of their claim. If the resident is unhappy with our decision, they can follow our Complaints Policy. 7.4. Goodwill/Discretionary compensation can be assessed on a case-by-case basis using the thresholds in the table below. Housing for women will ensure that all compensation payments are fair and proportionate within the recommendations of the Housing Ombudsman Code. 7.5. Goodwill/Discretionary compensation values will be assessed as follows: Level of Impact to the customer Inconvenience caused Value of Compensation Authorisation Level Minor Direct service failure caused by Housing for Women Up to £100 (Missed appt £10) Moderate A succession of service failures and/or the problem is not resolved within a reasonable timescale. Poor workmanship, multiple appointments/cancellations, running of additional equipment for the purposes of carrying out repairs/humidifiers/loss of heating/hot water. £51£500 Manager Executive Director Severe Serious or prolonged service failure or loss of facilities resulting in severe distress, disruption, loss of amenities/power supply £501£1500 Chief Executive or 2 members of the Executive Team Compensation payments outside of a Complaint Panel above £1500 are at the sole discretion of the Chief Executive. All compensation payments, including gestures of goodwill such as flowers/vouchers will be reported to the Customer Experience Manager for recording purposes. Examples of types of compensation / reinstatement: • Decoration vouchers to be provided for areas that are damaged whilst any works are being carried out by Housing for Women contractors / partners / sub-contractors. • Replacement of carpets/floor covering if we have damaged them, we will consider the original quality, current condition and take depreciation into account. • Where we have failed to deliver a major service paid for in a fixed service charge, we will consider the charge for the service; the level of disruption caused and the length of time the service was unavailable for. Adjustments will then be made for the service charge for the following year though in exceptional circumstances we will make direct refunds. • Loss of heating- we will provide temporary heating, where this is more costly to operate, we will 5 V2 pay up to £3 per day for additional costs incurred where electrical heaters are operational. • De-Humidifier costs- we will pay the running cost of £1 per appliance per day where a dehumidifier is required to dry out a property. • If a room is not habitable due to ongoing works or in a state of disrepair, compensation will be paid after 7 days of continual loss of the room. No payment will be given consideration where a room is undergoing major works under our planned works programmes for kitchen and bathroom refurbishment/replacement. NB – In all instances any compensation related to rent will only be paid against the proportion of rent paid by the resident and not regarding Housing Benefit received. Where a resident is in receipt of Universal Credit, they will have to provide evidence of the rent element of payments before any claim can be calculated. Table for calculating compensation for room loss: Room Bedroom Rent Refund (of Weekly rent) 25% of rent Room Living Kitchen 20% of rent 30% of rent Bathroom Loss of outside space 30% of rent 10% of rent All Toilets 100 % of rent 8. Reimbursement 8.1. Reimbursement will be given in instances where a resident or service user has incurred actual and evidenced costs (evidence shall be e.g., detailed receipts and original invoices) because of action or inaction by Housing for Women staff or contractors and where a claim or complaint has been upheld. 8.2. Reimbursement will also be made in respect of agreed and reasonable expenses incurred when a resident is decanted or must leave their home for major repairs. In all cases receipts are required. 8.3. In exceptional circumstances reimbursement of or contribution towards excessive utility costs incurred because of a faulty appliance will be offered at the discretion of the Executive Director or Executive Team. 8.4. Reimbursement in most cases will not normally be set off against any arrears or other sums owed to the association unless the arrears are greater than £1,000 in which case part of the reimbursement may be set off against the arrears balance. This decision is at the discretion of the Chief Executive or Executive Team. 9. Damage caused to personal possessions 9.1. The cost of replacing or repairing personal possessions damaged at a property is normally expected to be met from the resident’s contents insurance policy. Housing for Women will not compensate residents for damage caused to personal possessions that are not covered by the residents’ contents insurance policy. 9.2. Housing for Women will only compensate residents for the replacement value of any personal possessions damaged inadvertently by its staff or contractors. Reasonable proof of the damage caused and the replacement value of the items taking the original quality, 6 V2 current condition, and depreciation into account will need to be provided in such cases. 10. 11. Statutory Compensation 10.1. Home Loss and disturbance, in instances where residents are required by Housing for Women to move from a property, see Housing for Women’s Home Loss and Disturbance Payments Policy and Procedure. 10.2. Temporary moves – If we are moving you temporarily from your home, and we are repairing your home, then you will not be entitled to compensation, although we will pay for suitable alternative accommodation and related out of pocket expenses, on production of receipts, under our Home Loss and Disturbance Payments Policy. 10.3. Right to Repair- A separate Right to Repair policy is in place 10.4. Compensation for Improvements – Residents may make a claim for compensation towards certain improvements at the end of their tenancy provided that written permission was granted by Housing for Women. Claims for Compensation or Reimbursement 11.1. Claims for compensation can be made to Housing for Women via email, letter, phone, customer portal or in person. Requests made via Social Media channels will need to be through a private direct message that can be verified. Claims for compensation may be passed to us by a third party on behalf of a resident acting on their authority with the resident’s written agreement. We may contact the customer to confirm authenticity of the claim. 11.2. Claims for compensation should be made within 28 days of the date to which the claim relates. Housing for Women will not normally consider claims which date back earlier than 28 days unless there are exceptional circumstances, subject to agreement of the Executive Team/Chief Executive. Documentation or receipts must be provided in support of the financial sums claimed. 11.3. We will follow up a claim for compensation within 5 working days, contacting the claimant to confirm how and when the claim will be assessed. Any compensation settlement will include a breakdown of how the final figure was calculated. 11.4. If a resident is in arrears with rent or service charge or owes any money for e.g., a rechargeable repair or Court costs, compensation will be used to offset all or part of the arrears or debt. 11.5. Reimbursement in most cases will not normally be set off against any arrears or other sums owed to the association unless the arrears are greater than £1,000 in which case part of the reimbursement may be set off against the arrear. This decision is at the discretion of the Chief Executive or Executive Team 11.6. Any offers of discretionary compensation are made on the basis that it does not constitute an admission of liability. 11.7. If residents are dissatisfied with the settlement, they have the right to appeal using our Complaints Policy. 7 V2 Reporting and Monitoring 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. Compensation payments data will be included the number and value made will be reported quarterly as a sub-section of the ‘Complaints, Comments and Compliments’ report. An annual provision for compensation payments will be included in the budget process. Forms/Appendices Forms relating to this policy are included within the procedures above. References This policy has been written with references to the good practice guidance published by the Housing Ombudsman Service (HOS). The HOS can enforce penalties for poor administration of our procedures or financial disadvantage/or loss suffered by the customer. Oh my word I nearly got caught redhanded. Bring back memories of 2 Dogs. The pet that moved with us from Townhead to #GaGaStreet, died of old age and was buried. The other deceptive one that got killed and buried on the day it was caught with the #Neighbour big chicken in its mouth in our yard. We just didn’t believe the dog was doing what the neighbours complain of.
Well I did inform LEYF Nurseries that if I was an animal, the RSPCA (England & Wales) would have rescued me from BIB, HOC and New Cross between the 23rd July 2014 to 27th September 2015 when I resigned to save my life.
I have no alternative but to enhance my knowledge to face up to yet another #ET_CASE…

I am looking for #innovative ways to #earn money as I am not in #paid employment at the moment.

Here is a Young Man who could be one of my 2 Son’s Kevin Murray or Valdin Legister. What LEYF Nurseries done to me after coming back from burying my MOTHER is documented on Google, with my Fight4justice campaign and now my www.MerveleeConsultancy.uk and writing my first book.
I discovered via counselling at the Maudsley Hospital that my Mother might have experienced Mental Health Conditions, some of which I write about, and which MQ: Transforming mental health is using for their work.
There are some that have colluded with 2 former employers to trigger and exacerbate my Complex post-traumatic stress disorder from Puberty into the Mental Health Conditions that they are today.
My Fight4justice is to ensure that I am Breaking Down the Barriers so that my #Family do not have to endure any of the anguish that prevented my MOTHER from showing her LOVE to us. That caused me to develop Childhood Traumas when my Papa was struck down with Parkinson’s. That cause my breda ASHTER to die alone in prison isolated from his family, becuase of ignorance.
The same kind of ignorance that caused them to go on National TV to redicule and shame my Family. Then publish in the print media about the demise they concocted amongst themselves to destroy lives in 2012. Then paid for counselling…
As if that was not enough to frustrate my breda into resigning his post and later to be using his fat to fry my nephew.
But years later they are at it again.
That’s why after doing my research the past weeks for my first book, I dicover Dr Maria Hudson of University of Essex who carried out the Research Paper: The Experience of Discrimination on Multiple Grounds for the Policy Studies Institute on behalf of Acas.
I was shocked to discover some of the naratives that was used to describe my son. They are in similiar vein to what #LEYF used #Uncorporative, #Unprofessional, #Rude, #Intimidating, #Confrontational, #Aggressive, and #Lacking_Empathy. You will have to read the Employment Tribunals London South Mrs M. MYERS v London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) to understand the extent of the widescale discrimination I faced from 23rd July 2014 to 3rd March 2017. But this still not help me to get closures.
I am still waiting on the Department for Work and Pensions – DWP to do their work and stop contributing to exacerbating my Mental Health Conditions. The others have stepped aside but continue with the subtle discrimination on their website, they know exactly who they are – LinkedIn to name one.
Now Voice: the union for education professionals is trying to use underhand tactics like was used by UNISON to get me to cancel my membership.
So all the other organisations and institutions that are trying to break down my resolves, I have been living at my present address from I got this place via Housing For Women in 2000. I stayed in the Refuge for a short while when I was made homeless. Yes my former husband wanted to bring his bit on the side that was the other one making 3 of us in the marriage to the UK from JA.
The rest is history, the moral of the story is I refuse to let discrimination be the cause of Mental Health Issues be the outcome of the circumstance MY FAMILY and I were born in. There are some things that can’t be changed, but when others decide to mistreat others to keep them at the bottom of the career ladder or to go about their job of making a difference because they are passionate about breaking the chains of #POVERTY which affected our family, well I will find ways to tell the stories and challenge cocial injustices and inequalities anywhere in the world.

I worked in Luton Street Community Nursery for 4+ years where the majority of the children & their parents Mother Tongue is Arabic. Only natural that I have something of significance to remind me of all those Children & Parents whom I work with whose Mother Tongue is Arabic! Dealing with Death of Loved Ones

In the space of 7 months I have made 2 trips to my beloved country Jamaica for 2 momentous and poignant occasions in my life. I travelled to Jamaica on the 22.12.13, Valdin Legister, my son’s birthday to attend his wedding on New Years Day 01.01.14. I was privileged to spend 4 weeks establishing links with my elderly mum whose health was in steady decline. Mum who had Dementia did not recognised her only daughter, Mervelee Ratty Nembhard but I was blessed in a variety of ways. Because my son was living at home with mum, he had become one of the familiar persons who represented consistency and continuity in her life. In a sense he had taken my place in mum’s heart whilst I was away from the roost.
During my 4 weeks at home I was empowered to get some more insights into the aging processes that are parts of the transitions from birth to death. If I am lucky I might encounter some of the changes I have witnessed throughout my life as a parent, informal and formal carer. If I live to be anywhere near to my mum’s age of 90 years old, I will be blessed with wisdom beyond my age. Now I can honestly say I totally understand the age old adage that my older folks used “once a man twice a child…” Mum went back to being a child who needed attention 24/7 near the end of her life here on earth. I also got a clearer picture of the person I will morph into as I get older, because I am now proud to be compared to my mother, @www.MerveleeConsultancy.uk.
I am saying this because at one stage, I’d be mortified if anyone had the gall to compare me to mum and my grandma. But as the years went by and I decided to delve into my family history, I was dumbfounded to make some discoveries. Whilst in Jamaica I took the opportunity to put some of my studies at Lambeth College and the The Open University that I had done about the young and elderly to good use. I pondered to mum’s every needs, applying techniques to revise her memories despite her dementia. I sang with her, talked about her loved ones who had gone on before and did all in my power to preserve her dignity. It was truly amazing to witness mum being so humble and grateful whenever anyone did her a good turn.
This reminded me so much of some of the vulnerable children with whom I worked over the years. The vulnerable children and adults are relying on the practitioners and other health care professionals to provide for their diverse and complex needs, Disabilities. I felt a sense of purpose when I can implement early intervention strategies from studies and trainings to meet the needs of any vulnerable human being. I must confess that I had a few eye opening experiences being with mum, before heading back to the United Kingdom where duty call. That meant I could not stay with mum to celebrate her 90th birthday, but I left with the convictions that I would not be seeing her alive again.
Back in the UK I was kept up to date with her progress as per usual. Then after doing Cancer Research UK Race for Life in honour of my brother who died of Colon Cancer in 2008, on the 30th May in Clapham. I had this strange feelings before going to bed and I just could not stop crying. I can say as part of my beliefs that my loved ones who had gone on before had reached out to prepare me about mum’s passing in advance. In the middle of the night I was woken up by the telephone call I was dreading and was in tuned to the time when mum drew her last breathe. After getting the news I spent the following weeks making preparations for going home to bury mum. This was one of the hardest couple of weeks I had encountered, but I took things in my stride and carried on at Luton Street LEYF Nurseries.
I drafted the Eulogy and remembrance since I am the one responsible for documenting the family history during those couple of weeks. I continued working as hard as ever, burning the candle at both ends to meet my targeted outcomes. I went back to Jamaica to bury mum, but decided with my siblings that this was a time for the family to celebrate a life well spent. I got home and took part in the preparations, said I was not going to cry, but on the day of the funeral it was a different story completely. I left home in good spirit, walked up to the casket, looked at mum lying there so quiet and life less, touched her face and hands. I guess that’s when the reality that mum was gone hit home and I could not stop the tears from flowing. So I cried and paced up and down until there were no more tears.
I have been dealing with the death of my loved ones from I was in my teens with the murder of 2 uncles in their homes from both parents, 2 years apart. The gruesome death of my grandma’s only son totally destroyed her and she never recovered. She died 2 years later, a month after the death of my dad in 1980. This meant my family had to deal with death 2 folds over a period of time. Then in 1994 I lost my brother at the tender age of 37 years old and strangely enough he was present when our uncle was brutally murdered and escaped with a few bruises. I lost another brother to Cancer in 2008 after a short illness, he was only 56 years old. That was the time when King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust colluded with UNISON and London Borough of Southwark SEND Section to discriminate against me.
When I challenged the social injustices and inequalities, they got Capsticks, Wimbledon to act unprofessionally. A miscarriage of justice was the outcome of the Employment Tribunals London South case I brought against the former employers. I told Dr Maria Hudson of the Policy Studies Institute in 2010, when she interviewed me that I would clear my name and exonerate myself. Because I was to face blacklisting and networking which further exacerbate my Hidden Disability and trigger the Mental Health Conditions that I write about, which MQ: Transforming mental health is using as part of their campaign. After getting counseeling at the Maudsley Hospital, on the advise of the Occupational Health Doctor that #LEYF send me to after the Medical Suspension.
I was told to seek Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT to find out why I react to certain issues the way I do. I realised that my MOTHER, must have suffered from Mental Health Conditions because of her own experiences. The other family I had lost were not that significant, because I knew absolutely nothing about the intricacies of death, at the time. Listening to current debates about euthanasia, the treatment of the vulnerable and the Bill being debated in Parliament… I can’t help but reflect on some of my own experiences throughout the times when my dad and grandma were sick. Dad was sick for over a decade before he died and in the end needed care around the clock.
To compound matters, gran took sick and mum had to care for both, with help from her children. I recalled once hearing my brother saying that if it was left to him alone, he would give dad something for him to sleep. Although I was not home during my brother’s brief illness before his death, I have cause to believe he might have hastened his life. All he did to hasten his life was to eat the things that the doctor told him that were not good for his health. I came to this conclusion after going back home and being given certain information and knowing what his thoughts were about suffering.
I know I could not take that pathway if any of my loved ones or myself ever end up like my dad, because of my knowledge, values and beliefs. But this will not take away from the fact that I can understand why some would decide to go that route. I have seen so much suffering in my life time, that I wished there was some way for people to avoid the indignity of depending on anyone else for their every needs. Before I reached maturity and gain knowledge I remonstrated with a God who would allow my dad to suffer so much.
Suffice it to say that I am wiser about such matters and even though I have mellowed, I wish people did not have to suffer like my dad, and become like my mum in her last lap of her journey. Although I knew mum would die of old age it was still hard to accept losing a loved one, in particular my mother. She was the centre of our life because of the sacrifices she had made for her family when her husband took sick and died years later. I am proud to say that because I had dedicated my life to educating myself as an older student because I never had the opportunity when younger. I was instrumental in diagnosing mum’s condition, passing information to my family to help them provide mum with care that she would not otherwise have gotten.
When I was still in Jamaica nothing was known about some of the Health Conditions which affected the disabled and elderly. Therefore when these disabled and sick elderly people behaved a certain way, they were stereotyped and classed as mad, miserable or labelled with a variety of undignified names. In this age of enlightenment I am glad to say that studying empowered me to address some of the imbalances which made my mum’s later days on this earth a more bearable time for her and her family. I am no prophet and will not claim to be brighter than anyone else, but I am proud of the way I have empowered myself to enable me to cope with the challenges of life.
By these tokens I am better equipped to handle my personal and professional life. However since my return from burying my Mother LEYF Nurseries has been responsible for denying me my rights to freedom under the United Nations Human Rights laws and legislations. Like the first time when Dr Maria Hudson of University of Essex carried out the Research Paper: The Experience of Discrimination on Multiple Grounds for Acas, I have the establshment and systems on my back with discrimination. Voice: the union for education professionals, Advising London, Employment Solicitors, Darvell School part of Community Playthings UK, the editor of the Nursery World Magazine have carried out conscious discrimination.
Whilst others choose the subconsious discrimination to try cover their tracks. But believe me they will be named and shamed.That’s why I refuse to allow the naysayers and trolls on Facebook to get under my skin. I have my Fight4justice campaign ensuring that I am an advocate for others. I can’t get employment out there, so I am investing in myself, starting my own business. I refuse to let the psychopaths get the better of me. I have fought hard to help my family get out of the circumstances of our birth, which is poverty. I want the outcome to be different and I invested in my Sons Kevin Murray and Valdin Legister. That’s why I refuse to allow the Jamaica Football Federation ( J.F.F ) to get away with discrimination of my son for the second time. They done it to my breda Texchus Nembhard and my nephew Veralton Nembhard too. So let the WAR begin.
There are 2 things that are certain in the trilogy of human kind – birth and death, and after death the resurrection. I am praying even though I am not much of a Christian like my Father and Mother before me. But I wish I don’t have to suffer the indignity of having to rely on others to care for me like my parents before me. I guess this is why I take my health so seriously and important and have been making life style changes to keep healthy as long as is reasonably possible. These changes were put in place since I was diagnosed with Depression, Addiction, Anxiety and Chronic Fatigue Information, a variety of illnesses, some of which are Heredity. I intend to keep in tip top shape for as long as I can. However there are certain matters over which we mere humans do not have the final say. I am more than happy to leave such matters in the hands of the Almighty Father who knows everything best.
Mum has gone on to rest from her hard labours and toil and I am sure all my family are in agreement that mum is better off resting instead of staying on this earth suffering, and having no memories of her family. I am more than confident mum has been reunited with all her loved ones who have gone on before? She has done a wonderful job throughout her time and I am more than grateful for the mother God gave me for the 55 years she spent here with me.

Dealing with Death of Loved Ones

In the space of 7 months I have made 2 trips to my beloved country Jamaica for 2 momentous and poignant occasions in my life. I travelled to Jamaica on the 22.12.13, Valdin Legister, my son’s birthday to attend his wedding on New Years Day 01.01.14. I was privileged to spend 4 weeks establishing links with my elderly mum whose health was in steady decline. Mum who had Dementia did not recognised her only daughter, Mervelee Ratty Nembhard but I was blessed in a variety of ways. Because my son was living at home with mum, he had become one of the familiar persons who represented consistency and continuity in her life. In a sense he had taken my place in mum’s heart whilst I was away from the roost.
During my 4 weeks at home I was empowered to get some more insights into the aging processes that are parts of the transitions from birth to death. If I am lucky I might encounter some of the changes I have witnessed throughout my life as a parent, informal and formal carer. If I live to be anywhere near to my mum’s age of 90 years old, I will be blessed with wisdom beyond my age. Now I can honestly say I totally understand the age old adage that my older folks used “once a man twice a child…” Mum went back to being a child who needed attention 24/7 near the end of her life here on earth. I also got a clearer picture of the person I will morph into as I get older, because I am now proud to be compared to my mother, @www.MerveleeConsultancy.uk.
I am saying this because at one stage, I’d be mortified if anyone had the gall to compare me to mum and my grandma. But as the years went by and I decided to delve into my family history, I was dumbfounded to make some discoveries. Whilst in Jamaica I took the opportunity to put some of my studies at Lambeth College and the The Open University that I had done about the young and elderly to good use. I pondered to mum’s every needs, applying techniques to revise her memories despite her dementia. I sang with her, talked about her loved ones who had gone on before and did all in my power to preserve her dignity. It was truly amazing to witness mum being so humble and grateful whenever anyone did her a good turn.
This reminded me so much of some of the vulnerable children with whom I worked over the years. The vulnerable children and adults are relying on the practitioners and other health care professionals to provide for their diverse and complex needs, Disabilities. I felt a sense of purpose when I can implement early intervention strategies from studies and trainings to meet the needs of any vulnerable human being. I must confess that I had a few eye opening experiences being with mum, before heading back to the United Kingdom where duty call. That meant I could not stay with mum to celebrate her 90th birthday, but I left with the convictions that I would not be seeing her alive again.
Back in the UK I was kept up to date with her progress as per usual. Then after doing Cancer Research UK Race for Life in honour of my brother who died of Colon Cancer in 2008, on the 30th May in Clapham. I had this strange feelings before going to bed and I just could not stop crying. I can say as part of my beliefs that my loved ones who had gone on before had reached out to prepare me about mum’s passing in advance. In the middle of the night I was woken up by the telephone call I was dreading and was in tuned to the time when mum drew her last breathe. After getting the news I spent the following weeks making preparations for going home to bury mum. This was one of the hardest couple of weeks I had encountered, but I took things in my stride and carried on at Luton Street LEYF Nurseries.
I drafted the Eulogy and remembrance since I am the one responsible for documenting the family history during those couple of weeks. I continued working as hard as ever, burning the candle at both ends to meet my targeted outcomes. I went back to Jamaica to bury mum, but decided with my siblings that this was a time for the family to celebrate a life well spent. I got home and took part in the preparations, said I was not going to cry, but on the day of the funeral it was a different story completely. I left home in good spirit, walked up to the casket, looked at mum lying there so quiet and life less, touched her face and hands. I guess that’s when the reality that mum was gone hit home and I could not stop the tears from flowing. So I cried and paced up and down until there were no more tears.
I have been dealing with the death of my loved ones from I was in my teens with the murder of 2 uncles in their homes from both parents, 2 years apart. The gruesome death of my grandma’s only son totally destroyed her and she never recovered. She died 2 years later, a month after the death of my dad in 1980. This meant my family had to deal with death 2 folds over a period of time. Then in 1994 I lost my brother at the tender age of 37 years old and strangely enough he was present when our uncle was brutally murdered and escaped with a few bruises. I lost another brother to Cancer in 2008 after a short illness, he was only 56 years old. That was the time when King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust colluded with UNISON and London Borough of Southwark SEND Section to discriminate against me.
When I challenged the social injustices and inequalities, they got Capsticks, Wimbledon to act unprofessionally. A miscarriage of justice was the outcome of the Employment Tribunals London South case I brought against the former employers. I told Dr Maria Hudson of the Policy Studies Institute in 2010, when she interviewed me that I would clear my name and exonerate myself. Because I was to face blacklisting and networking which further exacerbate my Hidden Disability and trigger the Mental Health Conditions that I write about, which MQ: Transforming mental health is using as part of their campaign. After getting counseeling at the Maudsley Hospital, on the advise of the Occupational Health Doctor that #LEYF send me to after the Medical Suspension.
I was told to seek Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT to find out why I react to certain issues the way I do. I realised that my MOTHER, must have suffered from Mental Health Conditions because of her own experiences. The other family I had lost were not that significant, because I knew absolutely nothing about the intricacies of death, at the time. Listening to current debates about euthanasia, the treatment of the vulnerable and the Bill being debated in Parliament… I can’t help but reflect on some of my own experiences throughout the times when my dad and grandma were sick. Dad was sick for over a decade before he died and in the end needed care around the clock.
To compound matters, gran took sick and mum had to care for both, with help from her children. I recalled once hearing my brother saying that if it was left to him alone, he would give dad something for him to sleep. Although I was not home during my brother’s brief illness before his death, I have cause to believe he might have hastened his life. All he did to hasten his life was to eat the things that the doctor told him that were not good for his health. I came to this conclusion after going back home and being given certain information and knowing what his thoughts were about suffering.
I know I could not take that pathway if any of my loved ones or myself ever end up like my dad, because of my knowledge, values and beliefs. But this will not take away from the fact that I can understand why some would decide to go that route. I have seen so much suffering in my life time, that I wished there was some way for people to avoid the indignity of depending on anyone else for their every needs. Before I reached maturity and gain knowledge I remonstrated with a God who would allow my dad to suffer so much.
Suffice it to say that I am wiser about such matters and even though I have mellowed, I wish people did not have to suffer like my dad, and become like my mum in her last lap of her journey. Although I knew mum would die of old age it was still hard to accept losing a loved one, in particular my mother. She was the centre of our life because of the sacrifices she had made for her family when her husband took sick and died years later. I am proud to say that because I had dedicated my life to educating myself as an older student because I never had the opportunity when younger. I was instrumental in diagnosing mum’s condition, passing information to my family to help them provide mum with care that she would not otherwise have gotten.
When I was still in Jamaica nothing was known about some of the Health Conditions which affected the disabled and elderly. Therefore when these disabled and sick elderly people behaved a certain way, they were stereotyped and classed as mad, miserable or labelled with a variety of undignified names. In this age of enlightenment I am glad to say that studying empowered me to address some of the imbalances which made my mum’s later days on this earth a more bearable time for her and her family. I am no prophet and will not claim to be brighter than anyone else, but I am proud of the way I have empowered myself to enable me to cope with the challenges of life.
By these tokens I am better equipped to handle my personal and professional life. However since my return from burying my Mother LEYF Nurseries has been responsible for denying me my rights to freedom under the United Nations Human Rights laws and legislations. Like the first time when Dr Maria Hudson of University of Essex carried out the Research Paper: The Experience of Discrimination on Multiple Grounds for Acas, I have the establshment and systems on my back with discrimination. Voice: the union for education professionals, Advising London, Employment Solicitors, Darvell School part of Community Playthings UK, the editor of the Nursery World Magazine have carried out conscious discrimination.
Whilst others choose the subconsious discrimination to try cover their tracks. But believe me they will be named and shamed.That’s why I refuse to allow the naysayers and trolls on Facebook to get under my skin. I have my Fight4justice campaign ensuring that I am an advocate for others. I can’t get employment out there, so I am investing in myself, starting my own business. I refuse to let the psychopaths get the better of me. I have fought hard to help my family get out of the circumstances of our birth, which is poverty. I want the outcome to be different and I invested in my Sons Kevin Murray and Valdin Legister. That’s why I refuse to allow the Jamaica Football Federation ( J.F.F ) to get away with discrimination of my son for the second time. They done it to my breda Texchus Nembhard and my nephew Veralton Nembhard too. So let the WAR begin.
There are 2 things that are certain in the trilogy of human kind – birth and death, and after death the resurrection. I am praying even though I am not much of a Christian like my Father and Mother before me. But I wish I don’t have to suffer the indignity of having to rely on others to care for me like my parents before me. I guess this is why I take my health so seriously and important and have been making life style changes to keep healthy as long as is reasonably possible. These changes were put in place since I was diagnosed with Depression, Addiction, Anxiety and Chronic Fatigue Information, a variety of illnesses, some of which are Heredity. I intend to keep in tip top shape for as long as I can. However there are certain matters over which we mere humans do not have the final say. I am more than happy to leave such matters in the hands of the Almighty Father who knows everything best.
Mum has gone on to rest from her hard labours and toil and I am sure all my family are in agreement that mum is better off resting instead of staying on this earth suffering, and having no memories of her family. I am more than confident mum has been reunited with all her loved ones who have gone on before? She has done a wonderful job throughout her time and I am more than grateful for the mother God gave me for the 55 years she spent here with me.

I was recently told I should stay in my lane and it’s not my time. Thank God for the teachings of Mama Lou, I learnt to make hay while the sun shines. We have much in common now that LEYF Nurseries illtreatment of me cause me to get counselling at the Maudsley Hospital.
I will have to introduce my son to the world and write the story about how he was discriminated against and then they paid for him to get counselling.
As for those that named him or question whether he is a COWARD, I will set the record straight now that Captain Horace Burrell is DEAD. Ba-Hate-Ma-Son-Grass, or Bend-Dung-Snake-Under-Grass RETEP, I will have to get to the bottom of this.
I am tired from taking on Advocacy work, hence my Fight4justice campaign.
Just realising how much my caring duty is taking out of me and it won’t be getting any better, as my #Husband is relying on me more every day.

This appointment will run for 5 years from 26 January 2016 and follows an open recruitment campaign, regulated by the Commission for Public Appointments.
The Ombudsman provides an independent ‘second tier’ #investigation function in the handling of #complaints involving judicial #discipline or #conduct, or the judicial appointments process (the Judicial Conduct and Investigation Office, and the Judicial Appointments Commission respectively, handle the ‘first tier’ investigations). The position is a statutory office established by the #ConstitutionalReformAct2005.
The JACO leads a small team of #caseworkers to research and #identify issues in these cases, the majority considering questions of process and fact before producing final reports and recommendations. There is no formal right to appeal the Ombudsman’s decisions, which are #sanctioned by the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice.
Mr Kernaghan is the House of Lord’s Commissioner for Standards and will stand down in May 2016. He is also an independent member of the Civil Nuclear #Police Authority and a member of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body. He has had a distinguished career in the Metropolitan Police police service, most recently as Chief Constable for Hampshire (1999-2008) during which he served as chair of the Association of Chief Police Officer’s International Affairs Committee.
In 2009 Mr Kernaghan led the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support mission to assist the Palestinian criminal justice system. He was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for #distinguished service in 1998 and the CBE in 2005.

Reasons why I refuse to keep quiet in my #FIGHT4JUSTICE. The thing that @LEYF forgot was the CONTRACT & the Duty Manager Induction Programme which I was given a copy in 2009. Remember a DEFENSIVE PRACTICE might make the difference re: a Murdere, Thief or a Liar. Because when U know what the 1st 2 are coming with, U can never plan for the Thief. So for the Idiot Jobsworth who resorted to blaming everyone/thing except the appropriate channels, I have been dealing with @LEYF with Kid’s Gloves since October 2014. I am down to the last penny, & don’t intend to get a job as a Night Bicycle to pay the Housing Elements as the stupid incompetent man told me over the phone. He should be damned ashamed of himself. Remember I am taking Lessons from the Sunday & Daily Express Newspaper where I get my inspirations. Kettle a Cuss Pot Black!
