Right now, supporters like you are funding multiple research projects into prevention and a cure and I know major discoveries could lie ahead. But we need to move faster.   With the number of people with diabetes at an all-time high and complications still devastating lives, we must fast-track progress. Any gift you give this Christmas could help fund the next eureka moment, changing millions more lives, but we need your help.     It’s now been 100 years since a Nobel prize marked the life-saving discovery of insulin. This eureka moment stopped diabetes from being a death sentence and changed millions of lives.      Every week, I’m updated on our research projects and it’s exciting to see the constant progress towards a cure. I often find it’s the small steps that matter most. A series of remarkable discoveries add up, one by one, until suddenly a eureka moment changes everything.   However, a lack of funds forces me to turn down exciting projects that could hold game-changing secrets about diabetes. We can’t fund these projects without you, help us get one step closer to finding a cure, by giving a regular gift of £8 a month today.   £8 could help discover new treatments to protect against a type 1 immune attack £15 could help explore new therapies to replace insulin-making cells £20 could help research new personalised treatments to prevent more cases of type 2 diabetes.     We completely understand if you are unable to give a regular gift at this time, a single donation this Christmas will make a huge difference. Donate here.
Thank you so much for any gift you can give – it could help change millions of lives.       Dr Elizabeth Robertson Director of Research, Diabetes UK   P.S.               Dear Mervelee, Welcome to the Big Issue Group and thanks for signing up to our emails! Whilst we still use our original model, where vendors buy copies of the Big Issue magazine which they sell for a profit, we’ve also developed a host of initiatives to help unlock economic opportunity.  Big Issue Invest supports social businesses and charities to deliver social, economic, and environmental impact. Big Issue Recruit is a recruitment service to help people who face barriers to employment to join the workforce. We campaign for change and petition the Government to break the cycle of poverty, most recently through our Big Futures campaign.           Former vendor, Ricky, says: “I bought the magazine for a price and I sold them for more and that gave me enough money to eat and look after myself for a bit… it kept me alive.” Read his Story >   Subscribe to support our vendors! >         Did you know? Thank you so much for signing our petition to end housing insecurity now.

The world needs more people like you who are prepared to stand up and speak out so everyone can have a secure home. It’s brilliant to have you on board.

Can I ask you one more thing?

The more people who sign our petition, the more likely we are to Ending Housing Insecurity in our lifetimes. So please could you send our petition to three other people? Friends, neighbours, family members, work colleagues, whoever you wouldn’t mind sharing this with.

Just click the button to share the petition on Whatsapp.
