I contacted Dr Cox and she responded only for her to end up playing the same game as others I reached out to with my story. Now I have decided to write and self-publish my stories from now on. The Windrush Scandal in a Transitional and Commonwealth Context
The Windrush Generation: Oral History Resources
One of the aims of this 3-year project, ‘The Windrush Scandal in a Transnational and Commonwealth Context’ is to identify holdings of oral history resources on the Windrush Generation across the UK. The objective is to create a database of oral history holdings which will be hosted on a dedicated section of the School of Advanced Study’s website alongside other key outputs of the wider project. It will also be located as a searchable catalogue on the Black Cultural Archives’ (BCA) website. The British Library will also signpost oral history users to the database.
As no composite catalogue currently exists, Dr Juanita Cox, the project’s full-time research fellow, will be reaching to Windrush community elders/leaders, oral historians and academics for any information on the location of on- and/or off-line resources of interest.
The Institute of Commonwealth Studies has a strong academic interest in recording and analysing marginalised and silenced voices from ethnic minority groups in the UK and recognises the need to address the absences in Black British History. It seeks to provide invaluable teaching resources for those academics seeking to decolonise the curriculum of their institutions. We hope too that it will provide an important bridge between the academic world and the many researchers outside the academy who have been active in this field for decades.
The Windrush Generation is here defined as those citizens of the United Kingdom and colonies (CUKCs) who arrived in the UK from the late 1940s through to early 1970s.

The key objective of the wider project is to develop a digital research resource of sixty extended interviews on the national and diplomatic activism around the Windrush scandal. Oral and archival research will be combined to explore the links between international diplomacy and community activism, providing insights into the ways in which support from diplomats enhanced and amplified the community-based campaigning and investigative reporting.
Thirty of the interviews will focus on members of the Windrush Generation and their descendants (those whose everyday lives were blighted by the hostile environment) and on their supporters, legal and political representatives. The other thirty will focus on the response of Caribbean governments and their representatives in London to the legal restrictions imposed on immigration to the UK from the Caribbean from the early 1960s, and the plight of those members of the diaspora community, whose right to remain in the UK was challenged by the British State.
The interviews will explore the extent to which complexities of the law governing nationality exacerbated confusion around citizenship and belonging. They will seek to identify the extent to which members of the diaspora were aware of changes to their rights and obligations brought about by successive acts of parliament from 1962, and the stages by which it became clear significant numbers of people were having their right to remain in the UK challenged.
Our team will seek to ensure the broadest possible dissemination with a special seminar at the Black Cultural Archives for community activists on the project’s findings. We will stage a project ‘roadshow’ which will visit cities in the UK with significant Caribbean communities. We will provide separate seminars aimed at the staff of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Home Office and the Caribbean High Commissions in London.
We expect the research resources we produce to be used widely by academics and students producing undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. Our podcasts will be aimed at those outside the University, with one podcast specifically aimed at pupils taking the OCR History GCSE module ‘Migration to Britain, 1000-2010’. Our articles for the British Library’s ‘Windrush Stories’ website will enable us to demonstrate the relevance of our project materials to a range of researcher and educators.

This is the last time I was with my #BredaBYRON at Coronation Market, Downtown. Little did I know this was the last time we were to be together like this. Probably, I might have done some things differently, I don’t know.
BYRON died of #ColonCancer on the 27th March 2008. He died within #3Months of the 6 months he was given to live at #56yearsold.
A bright spark disappeared from our #Family, but his #Memories live on with me forever.
Today I remember my #Niece Sara-Kay as she will be celebrating her #Birthday in November!
Ms Connie Jourdine-LEGISTER was BYRON’S #GodMother & I am so privileged to have her to tell me the stories about #Mama & our #FAMILY that Mama was unable to tell us.

All the children & their parents & staff at Luton Street were a joy to work with. I worked at Luton Street LEYF Nurseries April 2010 – 22nd July 2014. The rot set in I am now reflecting after the manager Julie Weiss left & the new #BreedofStaff came in. It started going downhill from then. Of course I didn’t know then about the #InstitutionaliseCorporatePSYCHOPATHS that were taking over LEYF Nurseries?

I am still the #CleverPractitioner I have always been. Yet LEYF Nurseries deprived me of my #HumanRights. Now they are getting others to join them to #DISCRIMINATE against me. So the Agency Connex Education has not ever given me a placement. But they think they can clog up my emails with their same old #NonExistenceJobs everyday. Well I have given them prior warnings & if it don’t stop…? As for those others, I am thinking if they were threatened by LEYF Nurseries about not putting in any #FurnitureOrders? Because that’s the only reasons I can think for them to be behaving so #Unprofessional! U would not believe their #NOMADAncestors were given a rough ride by the #SYSTEMS!

Political Correctness take over. When I got to BIB, the staff were afraid to celebrate #Christmas because #1MemberofStaff forbid them because #BenedicteSiewe said she celebrated #NOTHING. LEYF Nurseries sanction her to do as she wanted despite BIB was newly taken over. But that didn’t stop the #SimmplyMinded Benedicte from making sure she was the #FaceofFotos for LEYF Nurseries publicity campaigns/promotions. It takes all sorts to make up this world. The Wheat & Tears shall grow together until the day of harvest?

Parents Evening at Luton Street LEYF Nurseries. I taught them everything I know from my studies with the The Open University 2004-2010. Then when I got to BIB, I was supposed to #TrainStaff like I have been doing since I started working in the #EarlyYearsSector in the UK. But truth is stanger than fiction as I now have to ask their #Permission to do the work I trained them to do. My #Knowledge was always viewed as threats from I was at King’s College Hospital, where the rot started.

We need to examine #RACISM as it applies to the Equality Act 2010. Since I don’t have time to have a look at the Equality Act 2015-2016, I will have to find the time after cutting down LEYF Nurseries to size? This is me at Luton Street where I was the backbone implementing & promoting the EYFS Welfare Requirements, Ofsted Standards & the 5 Core Values along with taking on the roles of doing everything else that #MANAGEMENT didn’t have a clue about. Then #5years later I was reduced to a #JennySaville by none other than LEYF Nurseries & their #Cronies. That’s why there is my #FIGHT4JUSTICE campaign. I have moved on from where I am in need of #APPROVALS!

Hi Thelma this is just a little token of my appreciation for helping me out of my predicament on Thursday. I must first say thanks for your patience when I was overcome by my emotions and cried my eyes out. It was just one of those moments when I thought the world had turned its back on me and there was nowhere else for me to turn.
It is persons like you and Sean G the bloke who turned up late at night to collect my barrels who gave me the faith not to ever give up on Human Kind again. When I spoke to SG and was thanking him profusely for taking time out of his busy schedules to come and do me a favour, he suggested I should be thanking you instead. So I duly asked him for your name and can visualised a very professional person working in a busy work environment, especially at this time of the year. However you did take time out ensuring my needs were met when all doors seemed to have been closed.
I am truly appreciative of all the lengths you went through to help me out and I will forever be grateful for what you have done. I must also say how very mannerly SG conducted himself, even going to great lengths explaining that he would have called to let me know he was on his way, but he did not have a number and by that time you had left the office.
Keeping on doing what you do best Thelma and just remember there are folks like myself out here who are really appreciative of that extra mile that you go to in ensuring the public are given the best services. Once more I take my hat off to Thelma and Sean G from Kingsley’s Shipping Croydon who came to my rescue on Thursday.

“Brain Break” sticks! Each popsicle stick has an activity on it {like spin 3x, jump rope, macarena, seat swap, etc…}. When I see that the kids are starting to fade away, I stop and say “man, our brains need to take a break…lets do a brain break. The kids absolutely go NUTS for these fun little activities. None last longer than a minute and it’s a great way to get them focused!”
