We are looking forward to welcoming you to the next Mindful Music at the TJHC next Monday 16 October which will run every week until Monday 30 October.
The session will begin at 3.30pm and finish at 5.00pm but you are welcome to join in at any point of the workshop.
The sessions will be led by Becky and Fi from City of London Sinfonia ( CLS) the team regularly led comfortable classical concerts for CLS and deliver workshops on breathing , music and wellbeing sessions in health and community settings.
No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
We will be meeting in the Ground Reception Area ( or if it’s warm the courtyard foyer) before moving to the Group Rooms which are located on the ground floor on the right-hand side of the entrance to the building, staff will be outside to meet you.
For parking, on entry into the centre, you can park in the visitor car park. Please then put your vehicle registration into the console/tablet located opposite the ground floor security desk. This will provide 2 hours free parking if actioned within 15 minutes of entering the vehicle entrance.

Further to your visit to the surgery I have had an opportunity to study your clinical presentation and x-rays (full mouth x-rays were taken in May 2023). The following is the summary of the report and proposed treatment plan. Please find a description of terminology at the end of this letter. On presentation you had no major complaints and have noticed an improvement in your gum health. Medically you suffer from high blood pressure and are diabetic. You are not taking your medications for your blood pressure and are under review with your GP. You have had some recent tests carried out including an ECG for which you are waiting results. For your diabetes you were previously not taking prescribed medication as advised by your GP, however, recently you have started taking Metformin and you have had a blood test to review your blood sugar levels. A clinical examination at your assessment revealed:
Clinically sound soft tissues.
The majority of the gum pockets are 4-5mm.
There are some localised pockets of 7mm and 9mm affecting LR5. There is increased mobility of the following:
Grade 2 (moderate mobility) – UR2
Grade 3 (severe mobility) – LR5 We had an extensive discussion regarding your periodontal condition and I explained that since seeing you in 2021 you have had a vast improvement in the periodontal pockets. You are aware of some teeth with a poor prognosis including UR6, UL7, LR6 and you are aware that these teeth will likely need extraction in the future. For now, you would like to maintain these for as long as possible and you are aware of the risk of further pain, infection and bone loss around the adjacent teeth. The LR5 has a hopeless prognosis due to severe bone loss and increased mobility, again, you would like to keep this tooth for as long as possible and the risks are as above. Your oral hygiene is good, however, you mentioned that you are using the electric toothbrush 1-3 times daily and interdental TePes most days, but not every day. Even though there has been a great improvement in your oral hygiene since you first came to see me, I explained that since you are genetically susceptible to gum disease, with other predisposing factors such as diabetes, we need to improve your oral hygiene even further if possible. This will include the regular use of an electric toothbrush and interdental TePes as discussed. You have shown good technique with the use of interdental TePes. I also explained the bidirectional relationship between diabetes and gum disease which is why blood sugar levels are so important. I would like you to provide a report of your most recent blood tests and send them in if possible. I have recommended periodontal surgeries, however, since there needs to be an improvement with your blood sugar levels and oral hygiene, I would recommend this to be carried out first and then a reassessment in 8 months’ time. I would recommend 4 monthly maintenance with the hygienist and I will reassess you in 8 months’ time. Alternatively, you may decide: Not having any treatment, in which case periodontal disease will continue causing bone and gum breakdown which may complicate periodontal treatment and also lead to potential tooth loss. Loss of more bone may also make any potential dental implant placement more complex. There is also some evidence that periodontal diseases may be associated with systemic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Thank you for attending your appointment. In healthy gums there is a small gap between the gum and bone, and this is termed a ‘closed pocket’. Since the gap is small, fewer bacteria are able to enter and cause gum disease. In areas of active gum disease where there has been some bone loss, the gap between the bone and gum increases and this is called an open pocket. More bacteria are able to enter this gap which leads to a higher risk of further bone loss. The numbers that you hear during your assessments describes measurements of periodontal pockets. The aim of gum disease treatment is to reduce open pockets to closed pockets. Although we are unable reestablish the original bone level, by closing periodontal pockets we reduce the risk of more bacteria entering the pocket. This reduces the risk of further bone loss around a tooth and therefore reduces the risk of future tooth loss. How do we close periodontal pockets? Initial therapy describes the first stage of treatment of gum disease. This will include oral hygiene instruction in order to improve brushing and reduce the level of bacterial infection. This will also include debriding or removing bacteria within the open periodontal pockets which you will be unable to reach with normal toothbrushing. This will be carried out under a local anaesthetic. What is a periodontal surgery? Gum disease surgery is treatment for residual open periodontal pockets that have remained after a round of initial deep cleaning. Not everyone will require gum surgeries and this will depend on the response to the initial cleaning, which in turn is affected by factors such as the initial severity of gum disease. The need for periodontal surgeries will be discussed with you at your periodontal reassessment Plaque score- the percentage of tooth sites with plaque present. Ideally we would like this <20% Bleeding score – the percentage of gum sites which bleed. Time to salute 1 of the 1st Independent Woman of my era from Townhead – Grung Road. The locals called her Ms Campbell & she was the wife of Mass Tat Sinanan. Sorry to say I don’t even know her other name & I am blaming this on the fact that she never resided in my Voting & Population Census areas. She was God-Mother to my breda Amly & this meant she was a person of unblemished & exemplary standards to be afforded such an accolade from my straight laced Parents?
Ms Campbell ran her Business Empire from the back of her family home and I am very sure she did give Owen aka Hurry-Hurry Sinclaire a run for his money. She travelled to town regularly to stock up on supplies to satisfy the needs of her many customer. Anyone who was anyone from far & near went to Ms Campbell for a bit of retail therapy. It was also a case of one’s name being good, so one can trust & pay later.
It was customary for us children to make pilgrimage to visit God-Parents so they can live up to the pledge they made. I usually loved accompanying my breda to visit Ms Campbell not just for the goodies we get to take home, but for other reasons too. One such was the way she would try to call my breda by his 3 names & never succeeded in saying them right, then she’d laugh out loud and say “I don’t know where Mass Ivan got these names from…”
On reflections I am thinking that Ms Campbell may have stammered, but am not sure? Ms Campbell made her mark by doing her own business & never stood by & expected her husband to support her & provided her every needs. I am sure if she had taken the decision to rely on Mass Tat, he would have complied. But she became a role model for other women by becoming 1 of the 1st women to establish herself as an entrepreneur. Ms Campbell became the fore runner for others like Bev McIntosh aka Big John’s wife & Ms Pearl Johnson. They were amongst others who were to become the back bone in supplying us with foodstuff at one time in Jamaica’s history when food did a married to all manner of things before they could get into our pots to feed the hungry masses. God blessed the Entrepreneural Spirits of the likes of Ms Campbell who was one of the beacon amongst STRONG BLACK WOMEN of her times. 3. Share. On this day 10 years ago

Richard is an experienced early years practitioner who has teaching and managerial experience within a variety of early years settings in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. He has also worked as a reviewer for the National Childcare Accreditation Council in Australia. Richard’s first degree was in Psychology (Otago, NZ). He then qualified with a Bachelors of Education and Diploma of Teaching (Otago, NZ). He also holds a MEd in Early Childhood Research (QUT, Australia).

Theresa May yesterday appointed what is thought to be the world’s first Minister for Suicide Prevention in a bid to cut the number of people taking their own lives.
Health minister Jackie Doyle-Price will lead the national drive to address the #stigma of mental health which stops people seeking help.
The PM said primary and secondary schools will carry out “wellbeing” assessments, with pupils given routine mental health checks.
Mental health issues among the young have #increased six-fold over the past two decades.
Ten percent of children have a diagnosable condition.
Around 4,500 people take their lives every year in England and suicide remains the leading cause of death among men under 45.
Mrs May has pledged £1.8million for the Samaritans’ helpline.
Speaking at a reception to mark World Mental Health Day today, she will say: “We can end the stigma that has forced too many suffer in #silence. We can prevent the #tragedy of suicide taking too many lives.”

Now it’s the turn of my uncle Aretas Nembhard, eldest sibling of my dad who migrated to Clarendon and established himself as a force to be reckoned with in a big way back in the days. Uncle Tas was 1 of 4 Nembhard brothers who settled in Clarendon and went on to established himself as a pioneer in poultry farming on a large scale. Although I have no memory of this aspect of his greatness, probably because it happened before we had television in our household. Dad was very proud of the achievements of his elder brother and ensured all information were shared about his family. So uncle Tas was privileged to appear on television to highlight his entrepreneurial skills as a POULTRY FARMER to the delight of his family.
However I have vivid memories of the times Papa would go on his pilgrimages to visit his family and came back with these massive fowls – chickens we called Red Amshas. We were the first people in our area to have those chickens and were extremely proud of that feat, because of the generousness of uncle Tas. Uncle Gridley dad’s youngest brother visited us in Westmoreland on a regular basis and later I started spending holidays at his home. So I was able to visit all my remaining uncles and their families in Clarendon.
I was therefore privileged to witness first hand uncle Tas’s empire in Poultry Farming as he had massive property where he carried out his business. Uncle Tas had one of the biggest houses which I came to know and it was almost perched on the side of the road at Sandy Bay where he lived. Uncle Tas also had his own church (lets hope I am not peddling incorrect information now?) He was churched at this church when he eventually died years later. My brother Ashter and I were in attendance at the funeral representing the NEMBHARD family from Westmoreland, and I can recall as if yesterday that the church was full to capacity. When we arrived we did not get to go in the church and I can only say that this was due to the popularity of the pioneer who was uncle ARETAS NEMBHARD.
The other uncles who lived in Clarendon were Sylvester, Gridley and Dudley who was brutally murdered in his yard one Sunday morning in 1976. I remember the year because I was pregnant with my 1st child at the time. WE were planning for the funeral, but his wife decided to bury him without his family?
I knew my uncle Tas, his wife Ms Mary, cousins Lukey, Samuel & Sonia and people used to say Sonia & I resembled 1 another? Well Us NEMBHARD can’t hide as the Genes are very strong. Uncle Tas’s pioneering traditions in Poultry Farming is being kept alive and well by Lukey as the NEMBHARD continue to make valuable contributions to the economy of OUR beloved country Jamaica! Long may this continue as we need all hands on board to build a better country for the future generations!!! If I made any mistakes please feel free to correct them as I want the true story to be published?
Hopefully once and for all when I #exercise the #ghosts of my #past I can #move on with #confidence. I have to become more ingenious in providing for my #HusbandNeeds. All I have to make sure that there is #FreshFood daily. The bedclothes are clean, I don’t spend off the shopping money & whatever he says is for #TPB goes in. Luckily I have good practice from my #GrannyGanGan & #Mama b4? I am one for #Learning because one day it will #Benefit me in the long run. I am learning to cook small portions or else I will have trouble managing & controlling my #Disabilities. Oh how I wish to go on a visit to mi #Yard. But having to prioritise!

Had this Strange Dream 1st Night & it involved sumady (a Young Man) in their 30’s…? The darnest ting is the Dream is still in my Head, but I can’t really get it out or work it out either way! Maybe a Satan did a try Pass him place wid me, cause is Years now I don’t nyam bickle arta certain Hours! Me Horror Scopes have been really ups & down lately…?

Let me share some insights into how Cardboard Citizens is part of my empowerment when I participated on the Aylesbury Project. From there I did Theatre of the Oppressed with Tony Cealy who identified the person who was waiting for the opportunities to break free. I was sponsored to study at Morley College.
I have had to invest in my https://fight4justiceadvocacy.business.sitecampaign. I have a Documentary coming and I would like Cardboard Citizens to get credited for their roles in my being able to lift myself out of CAPTIVITY. I am a Writer/Blogger. My presence on the Web means I have enough to help with sharing my stories. Example I was Page 1 of ITV News for Windrush 70.
I could write an introduction about Meeting the Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkins at my Housing4Women Annual General Meeting for the upcoming Zoom or any other related Conference. I am not limited to TOPICS as I have participated in Research for Policy Studies Institute recommended to ACAS. More recently Mental Health Research.

If I didn’t put my foot down, I could be the Senior Version. First they mess up my #Head. Stress me out, take away my job. But then the #Establishment and the #Systems set up on me like a pack of wild beast. Took them nearly 2 Years to sort out the likkle pittance and then the #Threats keep coming left, right and centre. But I have my Tools in my Fight4justice campaign.

While a man was polishing his new car, his 6 year old son picked up a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.
In anger, the man took the child’s hand and hit it many times;
not realising he was using a wrench.
At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.
When the child saw his father…
with painful eyes he asked, ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’
The man was so hurt and speechless;
He went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.
Devastated by his own actions…..
sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches;
The child had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’.
The next day that man committed suicide. . .
Anger and Love have no limits;
Choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life….
Things are to be used and people are to be loved.
But the problem in today’s world is that,
People are used and things are loved.
In this remaining month of the year, let’s be careful to keep this thought in mind:

Just spoken to my #Cousin_JoyceSaunders_Brown. She has given me a testimonial of humility in the face of adversities and challenges. I am humbled listening to my cuz talking about taking the initiative to go to the doctor to discover why there was changes in her body.
Joyce is not afraid of the diagnosis of CANCER that she said can take her home to be with her MOTHER, FATHER, ROY and her daughter Janet Beeput.
Listening to her speak about the way she is dealing with her SICKNESS, make my DEPRESSION and all I’m going through pale into insignificance.
I promise to write a testimonial to her faith in GOD and hopefully I can do so, and she gets to read it. Joycie mentioned her good friend Ms Nicey, who she said told her if she have a Sickness, she will talk about it. Just in case talking will help finding a remedy.
For those of my #Family trying to come to terms with Joycie Sickness rest assured she has accepted her faith, either GOD will cure her or release her from her #Pain.
Remember as my breda Balis said don’t wait to say “If Me Did Know”? We all cope with challenges differently, so don’t leave anything until too late. I am a COWARD and I will use my cuz as my inspiration.

Reasons I don’t adhere to the Philosophy of Everyone? If I was to that then @LEYF & other unscrupulous Employers would be getting away with #Murder. They have friends in high places & are members of #Cliques. I was brought up in a #ChristianEnvironment, but I refuse the adhere to everything written in the #Bible. One day I have to defend myself from the perpetrators of MBE/CEO #ModernDaySlavery. Like my #1son Kevin Murray done… Teach his #Son to stand up to the #Bullies or life can get #Difficult! So @LEYF & their ilks better keep #READING?
