As you have attended one of our previous Trust Strategy events, we thought you might like to hear about the latest developments with our strategy Aiming High; Changing Lives and how we are working to improve the lives of those we care for and our wider community. MM Response: Aiming High: Let me address this as a matter of urgency in light of the roles of those involved in the systematic discrimination of Mervelee Myers. Considering that all my woes started at Kings College NHS Foundation Trust after the death of my brother with colon cancer. I want Maudsley to know how they are responsible for denying my entitlements after AIMING HIGH to achieve my ambition of breaking the cycle of poverty that dogged my life after my father was stricken with Parkinsonson’s disease and my world crumbled. Changing Lives: My life has been changing over the past 30 years after arriving in the UK to make use of the opportunities I was presented with. The change in my life started after the death of my brother with colon cancer. I had my first nervous breakdown after the death of my brother. Networking and blacklisting after I challenge the discrimination led to my having to start my career from the bottom of the career ladder. Despite the fact, I was a graduate of the Open University. Because I have the platforms that I did not have before 2008 now, my stories are documented. How much my life has changed in 30 years and since the death of my mother with dementia makes it important to tell my version of my stories. Trust Strategy Events: I will suggest that Maudsley visit my websites and platforms to learn how I am responsible for the “Early Intervention Strategies” I applied from what I was taught by my Primary School Teacher to develop resilience. Latest Developments: Maudsley is welcome to visit my platforms to understand how advanced is Mervelee Myers the Mental Health & SEND Advocate turn Activist.
The event will be held on Tuesday, 6 June 2023, and we would love you to attend. MM Response: Dates are important to me and since I leave my home in Jamaica on 6th June 1992 I see this as a painful time when I have no intention to be associated with the Maudsley. When I did the Zoom events and matters discussed left me in tears. All Maudsley did was get someone to contact me. Is this how Maudsley improves the lives of those they care for and their wider community.
Our Chief Executive, David Bradley will be hosting this event alongside our Chair, Sir Norman Lamb and a Service User and Carer representative with a focus on our progress in achieving our Strategic Ambitions. The next phase of the transitional journey is in the making. Starting 19th April 2018, I will put the ghosts of 4 years of discrimination from LEYF Nurseries and cohorts behind me and get on with my life. #AdvocacywithMervelee is the way forward in breaking down barriers. We owe it to the future generations of leaders.
