To Whom It May Concern

I am writing on behalf of Mervelee Myersof 16 Alma Grove, Bermondsey, London SE1 5PY who I met at the Walworth Living Room, a subsidiary of Pembroke House.

I was working in partnership with Cardboard Citizens delivering the “Theatre of the Oppressed” training. Mervelee was one the older female in the group.

I identified that she is/was a gifted and talented natural performer who was able to create the most amazing scenarios at the spur of the moment.

However, Mervelee prefered to stay in the background which seemed to be her comfort zone. I was sensitive towards Mervelee and her needs when she confided in me about her “Chronic Anxiety” which affected her without prior notice. Therefore, I used the prescribed techniques via the training to support her in maximising her potential as a performer. I encouraged her not to be overshadowed by her disabilities that affected her performance within the group.

Mervelee got back in touch with me about the Windrush Day Playback Storytelling at the Brixton Library. She attended and was a participant. She is involved with the 6 rehearsal sessions for the playback “Theatre PERFORMANCES”.

Training is in progress and Mervelee is one of the stars of the performances. She is favourite with everyone who finds her “Wicked Sense of Humour” helps them to relax and be themselves.

I must say how much Mervelee has grown in confidence since the time I trained her at the Walworth Living Room in 2019. If you need more evidence of our engagement from 2019 and how she has taken on my advice and encouragement during training and making use of her natural talents.

Mervelee is an all-round performer who writes poetry, sings and is using her natural talents and experiences in helping others.

I introduced Mervelee to Jessie Lloyd who visited Brixton from Australia MAPPING BRIXTON THROUGH SONG project.

Mervelee has written a song Brixton Market that she recorded at the Raw Material Studios in Robsart Street Brixton.

The ORIGINS Festival will kick off 2023 by releasing a brand new interactive app designed to take users on a journey through Brixton to uncover the songs, stories and memories of recent history.

The app is being created by award winning transformative public arts company Aswarm to be released in February 2023. 

I can recommend her for any position she thinks she can undertake as a prolific writer, performer and “Cultural Ambassador”. Her credentials can also be accessed and referenced online.

The Philosophy of Brains

Brains is the master of all things great and small. Without Brains you know nothing and without Brains you do nothing.     

Before there were any History there was Black History

History is the landmark by which we are directed into the true course of life. The history of a movement, the history of a nation, the history of a race, is the guidepost of that movement’s destiny. That nation’s destiny, that race’s destiny, what you do today that is selfish will take you no further than yourself. What you do today that is worthwhile for all in common will take you even into eternity, and inspire others to act at, some future times.

Ambition is the desire to go forward and improve one’s condition. It is a burning flame that lights up the life of the individual and makes him or her see himself or herself, in another state. To be ambitious is to be great in mind, and soul, to want that which is worthwhile, and thrive/strive for it. To go on without looking back, reaching to that which gives satisfaction.

To be humanely ambitious is to take the world which is the province of man. To be ambitious is to offend God by rivalling him, in his infinite majesty.

This is the first lesson from Brains. There will be many more coming.

Firstly, I do not appreciate being subjected to homophobic abuse over the phone, calling me a “batty boy” repeatedly is highly offensive and having listened to you talk about protected characteristics, I am shocked to hear you use such slurs towards another person. In the future going forward, I will not accept any such abuse. If you are not aware that “batty boy” is a homophobic slur then please make yourself aware.

As discussed before you started using slurs, you are required to attend Walworth Police Station to be interviewed regarding an allegation that has been made against you, in which you have posted content about a person that has caused then alarm, harassment and distress. As per our conversation, this is not to say you are guilty, it is an interview to ascertain the detail of what has occurred and to get you side of the story.

The 17^th or 18^th February at 1100 hours can be arranged. Do get back to me regarding these dates and times. I will attempt to facilitate times that work for you. The situation with Mrs Myers’ neighbour has unfortunately escalated. Mrs Myers advises me that on Christmas Eve, the neighbour was knocking and kicking the door so hard that Mrs Myers had to barricade her own flat door to feel safe.

I would welcome a response on this issue in a format I am able to share with Mervelee Myers.

I have recently been contacted by Mervelee Myers regarding her neighbour at 16A. 

My constituent is concerned that she is being penalised by Housing 4 Women criticizing her neighbour who destroyed the plants and flowers she and her husband planted in the communal garden for everyone to enjoy. It would appear that this neighbour dispute escalated between the 2 with my constituent videoing her neighbour’s antisocial behaviour from the safety of her own property (not an illegal activity), which has also resulted in police involvement. 

She is also concerned that her journal on the H4W Portal, where she documented all her concerns and also included various communications with your organisation including a history of her repairs to her property, including other issues pertinent to her. 

Can Housing4Women please confirm what issues remain outstanding from her neighbour dispute and when do they expect the Portal to be back online, and will she be able to access her journal and all its previous content? 

I would be grateful if you could look into the points raised, and advise what options are available to resolve the situation.

I look forward to hearing from you and receiving a response in a format I am able to share with Mervelee Myers.
