Hello, I am Maria and joined LEYF in 2003 and Warwick Community Nursery in April 2015. Warwick Nursery has a bright and spacious indoor environment with two well-resourced outdoor areas, enabling children to be confident learners and make independent choices. The nursery is well established in the community and has strong links with local schools and children’s centres. The team at Warwick is very committed to fulfilling the children’s potential as they build strong relationships with parents and families. As a team we are very proud of our achievements in delivering good practice. A real memorable moment in my career is when parents comment that their children see us as their best friend. We are in Westminster within easy reach of Royal Oak and Warwick Avenue stations. We care for children aged from birth to 5 years and are open 8am to 6pm, 51 weeks a year.

My name is Joelle, I have worked for LEYF since 2001. I was at my previous nursery for twelve years and we received an OUTSTANDING from OFSTED and the LEYF ‘Fun’ Award in 2015/2016. I grew up in New Cross so was delighted to have the opportunity to manage New Cross Community Nursery as I am passionate about the local area! The nursery is already a vibrant part of the community and has already made its mark on the local area since its opening in June 2015! We have a highly qualified staff team; practitioners’ knowledge and skills help to support and extend children’s learning to their full potential. Practitioners are particularly skilled at supporting children during their transition period which is extremely important as this separation between parent and child needs to be planned well in order to ensure children adapt well to their new environment. The forming of secondary attachments is a crucial foundation for children’s learning journeys. The nursery is situated in a beautiful building, with four play rooms that all have direct access to outdoor space. There are extensive grounds which the children love to explore on a daily basis! We benefit from having a real urban city garden, in which the children can enjoy a range of stimulating experiences such as growing and exploring nature first hand. This is just one example of keeping our children fit and healthy from an early age to ensure they have the best possible start in life. We also benefit from having an onsite chef, who produces nutritionally balanced food on a daily basis and enjoys running cooking groups with the children!
