Evelyn Bailey Marty Nembhard Tribute 22 November 2022

Today 27 November 2022 as I write another Tribute to my Auntie Marty Nembhard aka Evelyn Bailey, I have no alternative but to consider why God has decided to make me suffer after the death of my brother and again after mum died with dementia. However, instead of feeling sorry for myself and the fact that I experienced the systematic discrimination after bereavement and losses. I must use this opportunity to share the role of Auntie Marty in telling me about my Mills-Nembhard HISTORY.

I would like to continue creating the legacies for future generations of my FAMILY and must acknowledge the contributions of Aunt Evelyn Bailey aka Marty Nembhard who was born to Charles and Irene Mills-Nembhard in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Auntie Marty was one of sixteen (16) children for her parents and was blessed with five (5) half-siblings from her father. So as not to limit the power of how important it is to know our history, I will list my grandparent’s children. I have written my stories online and this is available for my FAMILY to know their HISTORY in honour of my FATHER Ivan Sandyman and my Auntie Marty. I must mention my brother ASHTER SERENER URELLA NEMBHARD who carried on the TRADITIONS of my father and Auntie Marty. I was privileged to have my COUSIN Balvin Bailey growing up with us in Westmoreland. He was a frequent visitor to our home in Westmoreland from his home in St Dacre St Ann.

Pilgrimage

Dad used to take us on Annual Pilgrimage to his birthplace in Aberdeen St Elizabeth when I was a child laying the foundation for me developing my PASSION in documenting my HISTORY. I was privileged to arrange a FAMILY REUNION in 2009 during one of the most devastating times after I lost my brother WALFORD BYRON ALBURNEY NEMBHARD with colon cancer. My stories are documented and if anyone wants to know the information it can be found online.  YouTube http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8CrRSjbtvdSw2EIMMaSB1g and http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCafNXIstv9upeEM0e17jg

I arranged a PILGRIMAGE to meet my Auntie Marty in 2011 whilst on holiday. I have my Journal about the information she shared with me.

Last Family Alive

Auntie Telyn is the last sibling of my Father’s I know who is alive. But how many of the younger generation even know of her existence. I finance another FAMILY REUNION in 2019 and since then I have been OSTRACISED and be made into the BLACK SHEEP of the NEMBHARD FAMILY. I will continue this story in my next BOOK “A MOTHER’S LOVE.

Mervelee, I noticed you haven’t registered for The Black Secret yet, so can I ask what’s your #1 question about Black History? Here’s a list of frequently asked questions, below. Why study Black History? A lack of access to information about Black history and African heritage has contributed to many Black people feeling disempowered in their lives. Learning Black history can have a profound impact on your self-esteem and what you believe you can achieve in life. What good will learning about the past do for me today? People tend to think that history is all about the past, in fact awareness of history has a profound impact on the present. Knowing the truth about your own history is transformative and life changing, it transforms and expanse your view of yourself and leads to productive and progressive individuals who have a positive impact on their communities. How will learning about past glories help us deal with current issues? We know from experience that learning the truth about Black History can erase limiting believes that people hold about themselves and others in their communities. In the 30 plus years I have been teaching this course, I have seen how it has positively impacted and transformed people’s mindsets, improving their lives and those in their communities. I know investing in yourself and committing to learn this topic can be a small but important step, but I PROMISE YOU that you’ll be so glad you made it. Here’s what other people have been saying about The Black Secret Education Project:   Testimonials
“I was invited to attend an introduction session in 2017, from this session I felt this was the right place to be in my life. The impact of attending the classes was life changing for me, the emotions I felt during and after the sessions was ground breaking, years of sadness, anger and confusion revealed itself. I had the opportunity to explore, learn and develop during these classes. One of the many things I gained by attending these classes was been able to safely start processing my past and learn to live in the present with optimism for the future and the ripple effect on my loved one has been a pleasure to watch. Thank you to all the team at CSEP.” Selena Maxwell

“It’s been awesome to learn from the Black History Man; Robin Walker who has a wealth of information that is not taught in schools. What I’ve learnt so far has given me a knowledge of self that has begun to dispel some the frustrations of my unpleasant experiences in school, socially and the workplace.” Andrée Ingrid Mullings   I’d love to add YOUR story here someday.
