Upon reviewing the application, we do not think it is the best time for you to be undertaking the role of a voluntary peer supporter right now. In your application, you mentioned that completing the form itself was triggering for you, and that you have not grieved properly for your mother yet – the peer support training and then the actual role can be quite intense emotionally https://fb.watch/c5NapiTXb-/. It involves a lot of self-reflection and a deep dive into past and current lived experiences, and requires continual reflection and immersion in your experiences and what you can learn from them https://fb.watch/c9z-33z7v/. For someone to do the peer support role safely (for volunteer and client) and effectively, the volunteer needs to be at a certain point in their journey where they can share their experiences and hear other people share without it being of detrimental to their mental health https://fb.watch/catWn3I8DI/….
The role also requires a lot of time and energy, and we can see that you have a very busy schedule at the moment based on the different commitments you stated in the application.
